Ok my plants are about a month old.White widow feminized.Plain potting soil with added perlite...1000w HPS... Ive been fertilizing at 25% strength every watering(I water about every 5-6 days) with botanicare veg and karma... Anyyyyways after I watered last week I tested the ph of my soil with a soil tester from home depot and the PH read 7.1... I knew that was to high so I went and bought some PH Lower from my hydro shop... Today I watered again and added enough to lower the PH by .4 (Im trying to get to 6.7-6.8) After watering I tested the soil and the PH went up!!! to 7.3 ???? Im so confused.Any input?
I had a cheap soil PH tester and it rarely ever moved off of 6.8. Atleast get a cheap Milwaukee digital tester and some calibration solution for it you`l be alot better off then what your using, it might last you several grows or more. The top two reccomended brands are Hanna and Bluelab but thier more pricey. Also what soil are you using? Also it takes a little while to get the soils PH to adjust from waterings. Soil PH range is 6.2-6.8 with around 6.5 being the best for nutrient uptake.
should only give nutes every other watering.what kind of tester u using the soil with ?are you testing run off ?because those cheap soil testers from hd arent very accurate.
Nah I just stuck it in the soil,can you test run off with a soil tester? yeah and it was just the cheap 10 dollar soil tester (plastic head w/ meter and 3 metallic bars/sticks) its bad to nute at 1/4 strength every watering?It is organic fert...
What you have is shit. Get a digital meter (net) or at least a ph test kit for an aquaraium (wal mart) There is plenty of info here on how to test corectly. peace B
Ya testing your run off will help you figure out what you need to water with. You could also flush the soil because of all the nutes. I would flush the soil and wait a few days then test run off then go back to using nutes.
PH probs are shit!!! Get a digital meter and get some soil put in small container with distilled water. Shake the soil up with the water good, let it set for a few, then use your meter to test the water. That way better than those shitty ass PH probs that dont work!!!
