Hi guys, Really stressed here, into week 3 of flower and have been doing some final defoliation, and have noticed some seeds growing on one of my plants. I don't know why this is, as all seeds were feminine and has shown no male signs before now. Ima assuming this must be due to stress or something, not exactly sure why. No other plants seem to be affected yet, however do I have to remove this plant completely? Many thanks
After a closer look they appear to not be seeds but bundles of very small leaves. Is this the same problem?? How would I isolate it and if I leave it with the other plants will it affect them? Thanks
Look it up bro you get the full story.....but how that happened was a light leak prolly my man. If you have any lights from power bars or humidifier cover the lights on them. If there's light holes in the tent block them...if you're opening the tent during there dark cycle then you made them Hermie prolly...they need no interrupt darkness. Or pollened. Could have gotten to your plant. Check your setup..get that plant outta there man sorry for your loss MPM
This is very bad news have now isolated the plant. I have read that if I pull all of the male parts off with tweezers it should be okay to introduce back into the crop is this correct? Many thanks
I heard the same, also heard thats really hard to do especially cuz some seeds are in the bud..? How can tiny light leaks cause hermies? Aren’t there female plants in the wild? Stars and moonlight would hit them hard Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Yeah you are probably right to be fair. Seen as only one plant is affected I believe it is genetics rather than environmental.
But so f************* annoying proper disheartening when done nothing wrong and lose out on like 3 ounces
Ah when blueberry first came out I ran 2 different runs and both herm'ed into flowering. Just wasn't a stabilized strain yet. Some strains are hard to grow and any stress they grow balls Kill it
it's so frustrating though after 2 months of work and time and money then goes to waste because of that. I'm hoping this is the only one affected. It's in a black sack now
It was my understanding that seeds cannot be identified as male or female(?) My grow area only has space for four plants and attempted to germinate 8 "feminized" seeds several months ago. Got the seeds from MSNL on-lime with the claim that 75% to 80% would be female. 6 of the 8 seeds germinated and 5 of those male! WTF! Lost a lot of time and since then have found a source for clones (legal in California) with several strains available. If you have clones available I definitely recommend going that route.
Feminized seeds have a natural tendency to Hermie because of how they were created. It very well might be nothing to do with what you did. Don't reintroduce it back into your room just trash it, or flower in another area away from the other plants and try to pick off nanners. These things happen just move on.
I respectfully disagree. I have been running fem seeds for years and never had a hermie even once. There's a difference between a true hermaphrodite and rodelization.
What is rodelization? So I can't pick off the sacs and leave in the same tent as the other plants? Thanks
Fair enough, i have no problem agreeing to disagree, however I'm not talking in absolutes. Im simply saying there is a natural tendency for a plant to hermie given the fact that they are fems, even when done by rodelization or chemically induced means. Most of the time that's not the case, however it can happen. A breeder is still a guy in his room making seeds, fem plants can still be males, and females can still go hermie, even if they were created properly. Doesn't mean it happens often, but it can happen.
I wouldn't, all it takes is one sac to open to seed your entire crop. Take the loss and save the rest of your girls in my opinion.
