HELP! Plants in bad shape!

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by RookieBud, Mar 11, 2013.

  1. Hey everyone hope all is well, I just recently have traveled and I return from letting a friend take care of my plants and I have major issues!

My 2 soil grows seem to have nutrient problems, but I can't seem to put a finger on it. I flushed the plants with PH 5.5 balanced water and I'm waiting to see what happens, I also removed the dead growth underneath.

How do I prevent the leaves from further dying off or turning yellow.

    18/6 light cycle
    4 ft x 2 ft x 6ft mylar grow room with over 28,000 lumens of 6500k
vented and circulated with proper temperature
the soil is scotts hyponex potting soil but i flushed before use to lower nutrients
the plants have been in this soil for 35 days
    5.5 PH water
the room holds my 2 soil grows and my 8 hydroponic plants which are flourishing after 15 days.
I have a few flying gnats in the room but no visible damage to the plants or soil

I have posted pictures to do most of the explaining for me.
If I'm missing any information just post and I will give you whatever you need.

Thanks for your time and all advice is appreciated....
This is my first grow and as you can see I said go big or go home.

  2. Could this issue be possible because of the plants not being transplanted to a bigger pot or new soil?

I'm just lost, I want to start flowering soon.

  3. Friend... if you're in soil and you keep PHing at 5.5 you'll continue to face issues... you should flush, raise your PH to 6.5 with run-off no more than 6.8 and you be in much better shape.

  4. I start my ph at 5.8 when put in soil from clone,I slowly raise the ph till I hit about 6.0 and veg with that.Once I flower I slowly raise it to about 6.3 n go with that and have no problems what so ever.Pro-mix/Fox Farm ocean/Fox Farm ocean.I run 2 4x4 flowering area with a 1000 watt per 4x4.I pull almost 5 lbs every 3 months.Gotta know ur strain also.likes n dislikes as far as nutrients

  5. Kinda looks like N def but not sure

  6. I though it was a high nitrogen deficiency at first.
Someone also told me it was a PH problem and the plant was in nutrient lockout.
Every leaf tip is brown so I'm assuming nute burn.

  7. Yea, someone told you all right... Your locking out P/Ca/Mg... all three.

  8. Since I just recently flushed with 5.5-6 PH should I wait and see what happens because I can't reflush right away with higher PH water.

Could the problem be because the soil has been flushed so many times, there is no nutrients left for the plant?

  9. Also would it be bad to start the flowering process while the plants seem to be under this stress?

  10. Def Dont start flowering till all is right!I would wait a day n reflush with water PH'd about 6.1

  11. Phosphorus is locked out of soil @ 4.0 -5.5
Magnesium is locked out of soil @ 2.0-6.4
Calcium gets locked out of soil @ 2.0-6.4

Best thing you could do is wait very few days, flush again as instructed, then add nutes at .50% recommended dosage, with all micro's in chelated form, and assuming your PH had been corrected, you could flip and flower.

  12. If you don't fix this problem quick ur gonna lose them. When ur in flowering u need them nice and healthy so they can take up all the nutrients u feed them.Otherwise ur waisting ur time and money.most strains are pretty tough n u should have no problem pulling through.imo I'd reflush today but that's me.

  13. His pics of his plants don't look that bad... unless they have deteriorated even further, that's for him to say, of course, and if they have I could recommend foliage feeding with .50% recommended dosage with chelated micro's.

  14. I appreciate the advice, the leaves are still yellow, the plant is perky and seems alittle better.

Since I am a beginner I'm unfamiliar when with the term chelated? Is it possible for you to suggest the micro nutrients I should use or explain it more?

If the yellowing continues I plan to transfer into new pot to prevent root bound with new soil. I know I should of went organic and added my own nutrients but I used nutrient adding potting soil. I bought some tests to check my soil out and I'll keep you posted on the levels.

  15. Go to Walmart and get you a bottle of Miracle Gro 7/7/7 for African Violet's... it has all the chelated micro's... $3.84 per bottle. I also use the Cactus 2/7/7 for flowering... look on the back, you'll see the chelated micro-nutrients.

  16. Soil PH of over 6.5, High iron soils, Low nitrogen Soils, Dry weather
and compacted soil will create problems.

  17. Most folks would do well to try to go in at 6.5 and stay there if the can... be sure to check run-off regularly.

Ya, know... I been thinking about your particular issue... your actually locking out every nutrient except manganese, iron and boron. We've probably locking out N AND K also. Friend... you're heading into multiple nutrient lock-out.

I think you just need to buy new soil and transplant. Fox Farms is a good soil brand for most beginners and the nutes in the soil will last about 30 days. I transplant two times during my grow, then feed them nutrients through the rest of my grow (for flowering)
Sorry I didn't see you had a hydro set up as well, devils in the details. Consider the above advice for your soils only. I wouldn't transplant from hydro to soil, at least doesn't sound fun. I wouldn't know though, you'll have to forgive my ignorance in that field.

  20. Yea, I noticed that... I suspect RookieBud was PH'n with same solution for both, you'll have to ask him that?
