Help - Plants growing out of control!

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Emphatogen, Feb 20, 2011.

  1. I wasn't really prepared for this situation, this being my first grow, but my plants are taking over the world! Three pots in a Homebox that's 120 cm high. There are two Fruit Spirit (greenhouse) plants and a skunk. The pack says the plants get to be 50-60. Suddenly - they're 70. I guess I let them go too long, because I'm in no rush. Now, a week into flowering, there are buds pressed up against the filter and dangerously close to the 250 dual spectrum.

I wasn't planning to stress them at all, certainly not during flowering - but now I have no choice. They're taking it in stride. But now I'm tying them down every night and the next night they're waving at me again from new angles. I didn't know about the "Grow them til they're 1/3 of desired harvest height" rule. I do now.

I know - and this is unthinkable - but what would happen if I just cut the tops off? Or supercrop? It's less harmful than getting fried by a light, no? I'm not concerned about yield, this was just an experiment anyway. Or should I try and get a screen in there at this late date? Or are there other tweaks (switching the vents off, less nutes) that will slow the growth without hurting anybody? Thanks, if you know.

  2. supercrop em:smoke:research in plant training forum...basically pinchin' the stem till it gives then doin the other two sides till the stem flops over..then put the stem where ya want it ta grow..the stem will grow at 90% angle..but do it now..dont wait till later in flower..and dont just chop it:smoke:good luck

  3. Thank you. I did this. Had to use pliers to pinch them - they're that thick even at the top... or I have very weak fingers! Hopefully this will last a few days.
Correction - the seeds were Fruit Spirit from Royal Queen, not Greenhouse. Feminised. Crazy healthy plants.

  4. no..some stems are tough...wrap stem with a cloth and pliar em into submission;)little scarry every time..it like goes against our instint to protect the plants at all cost..and good job on the growth vigor....
