  1. Return it , Walmart will give you store credit for peat moss and perlite. Then start reading all the stickies here at GC and begin sourcing your meals and compost.

Hope that helps, come back with a bit of a defined question, MG doesn't just suck it most likely contains a large amount of gnats as well.

Sorry for my ignorance I didn't start reading on soil till now. I have already started on a couple plants, about three weeks in now. Should I just start over or is there a way to make due where I'm at right now if I get the peat moss and perlite?

  3. I wouldnt use it at all. If you do a small amount of searchinh you will understand why.

  4. Here's the deal. Get the materials recommended in one of the many excellent 'recommended' threads and transplant them. The sooner the better but there's no good reason to toss the little babies out with the no-good soil. The babies will clean up just fine in their new environment.

    Good Cheers Mate!

  5. Mac, since you are " three weeks in" , I would return to wal-mart with a ten dollar bill and pick up a bag of espoma plant or garden tone. This is a good all around multi-purpose organic fertilizer. Top dress and water in .

    This should get you through.

  6. Thanks for everyone's time this helps a lot.

  7. Not too many of us are fond of Miracle Grow or Scott's products - it's a long story.

The bottom line is that yes, there are many other better, organic options, that are geared more towards what we do. Even the simplest organic soil will outperform the MG/Scott's products; so why not use what really works.

Best of luck in your garden. Try transplanting into one of the soils listed in the "ready to grow" thread, and both you and your plant(s) will be happier.
