Hey grasscity this is my first post. Everything ive searched for has come to this forum so ive decided to make an account finally!! As the title states im thinking and planning my first small hydro grow. My original plan is to buy a aerogarden deluxe and build a small box with computer fans going in and out. Id order some seeds off line (its a lowryder 2 x ak47 autoflowering seeds). Wed be using advanced neutrience from the urbangrower website and a PH up down kit. Basically what im asking for is everyones advice in the GC community whether it be on a different set up, different seeds or w.e all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
thats my room mate btw lol but seriously we need any and all opinions, advice, help or w.e. Thanks everyone
Hi... My first recommendation would be to read all of the stickies in this, the Indoor Growing, and Advanced sections. There is lots of great information to be had in these threads. My second comment would be to consider building your own aeroponic system. Unless you don't know which end of a screwdriver to hold, there are step by step DIY instructions all over this site and the internet. I have personally made a 16 pot clone bucket (25 gallon) and an 8 pot pre-veg bucket (40 gal). There are pretty simple to build at a fraction of the cost. Something that I noticed you were missing are the type of lights you're planning on using. HPS/MH HIDs are the best (in my opinion) if you do not have any cooling issues. CFLs are also widely used. Good Luck!
Thanks for all your info, extremely helpful and yeah as of like a day ago we decided that we want to do a bubble bucket set up or something similar. We may want to do a two plant grow instead, but one of our main concerns is the lighting. We will have to build some sort of grow box but we really dont know what to do in terms of lighting. That i believe is the biggest area that we need help with.
Rumpleforeskin has a great tutorial about building bubble buckets. They are fairly easy to make and I have seen some great results from them. Like I said in my previous post, the HID lights are the best for growing, but will produce a lot of heat. There are air cooled reflectors that can be used to keep the heat out of your box. Lots depend on the setup of your grow box. Good Luck!
