Help needed for heat and temperature.

  1. High there me mateys!

I am currently testing out the environment settings for my grow tent but the temperature keeps staying withing 31-35C (24hours max and min).

    Grow tent is 2' x 2' x 4.6'
Grow light is 600w LED light
Current set up has 1 intake and 1 exhaust.
Testing it by running 18/6 ; 18hours on during the night and 6 hours off during the day.

I need help and suggestions on how to improve the temp control.

  2. If you have a vent in the top I would use that , you might need to check out a 4" or 5" rvk fan I would move you air intake to the bottom of the tent if you can. This helps with natural convection to eliminate heat, cold in the bottom hot out the top

There is a hole at the top for vents too. It's super costly to get a rvk fan here in my country. I'm gonna install my 3rd exhaust fan and test out the environment again. All my exhaust fans are using server fans. They're strong and I chipped my fingernail when I accidentally fingered the blades. Lol.

This the current set up now.
One intake fan at the bottom.
    Two exhaust at the top.
Two fans to circulate the heat up.
    One fan that simulates wind.

  4. This all I use, I find it quieter than reduced blowers.[IMG]

I think mine came off eBay a lot cheaper.

Are your passive air vents open?

I do not use a intake fan yet, 1 circulation fan and a temp controller, my fan doesn't run to often.
    I have a bigger space, 1.2-1.2-2 running a
1500w cob as main light, will be adding more when I decide if I want to go led or more cobs.

  6. Wow! You have so much more space available in your grow tent compared to mine.

Yeah I opened up the passive air vents. One on top and another at the side.
So far with my a/c on at night, the temps are much better controlled. But once it's the afternoon, the room temperature goes up and eventually my grow tent temp also increases.

I guess you're running passive intake?

I have 2 lower passive intakes, I would close your upper and draw as low as you can. Use natural convention as your friend. Your upper passive will allow warmer air to return to your tent. Do you have negative pressure in your tent? And yes 2m is the way to go, I have a room but am limited in height so tent in spare room is better.

That low a tent will require good genetics or great training. My plan is to keep my plants short .and I can let them stretch for next grow, if needed. I was only gonna grow out 4. But you know the storey but at least I have the tent size for 6 The tent is a mars that I think is a great value for money purchase.

    Keep em bushy
Glad you are getting temps under control,

  8. I just looked at your tent again do you have all 3 passive intakes open, they should be screened, if that is a pipe thru a collar you have more chance of bug infestation if you use this as cold air intake and you will not get the air required thru a small opening.

  9. Tried editing again didn't work screenshot of my edit[IMG]

  10. you need a 10-15cm inline fan with ducting going out of the tent and through the closet wall into another room,
cut 4-5cm off the bottom of the closet door, open any bottom vents the tent has.!
this will bring down temps and increase Co2 levels.!!

  11. What is the outside temperature?

My grow room was 32C before I setup a duct from near a window, to blow cold air from outside over to the passive intake holes of the grow closet.

  12. Hey guys, thank you all for your input. I've been too caught up with my work to check for updates here.

So far to my observations, the temps are stable ranging between 33-39C with the tent flaps closed. With it opened, it ranges between 30-35C. I've set my AC to on during the hottest part of the day to bring down the temps. The temp outside my grow tent is about 33C. I've installed block out curtains to keep the heat out. Gonna monitor it again for the next few days. But so far my auto plant seem to be doing well with slight defects in leaf growth but my fem plant is having taco leafs on the new growths after being stunted for about 1 week.

    Damn.

  13. you will have to get the temps down, 30 deg is the highest it should ever get.

the ambient temp needs to be lower and the tent's air exchange needs to be increased,
those 2 computer fans will not remove enough hot air.

how many vents do you have open on the bottom of the tent?

  14. Bottom only have 2 vents. One is taken for intake pipe and the other is closed as there are cables running out from it

  15. open the other bottom vent, if you need to pipe it just run the cables thru the pipe!

  16. Alright man. I've realised there are another 3 rectangular vent flaps. I've opened 2 of it and the other one is at the back which I have no access to as of now due to the heavy bucket of water. Lol. I'll see how things goes

  17. I had the same exact fan, similiar sq ft, and same orange controller my first grow and it was a miserable experience. Luckily I went and bought the right equipment while still in veg and saved the grow. Get an inline fan and don't forget in late flower you've gotta drop the temps even lower.

  18. If your ambient air is 33 degrees, more air conditioning is required, max tent temps, ( or so i have been taught is 30) as slowoldguy already pointed out. You will need to bring room temps well below 30 to achieve this in the tent. There are strains that will tolerate the heat more but i cannot help with this info.
