I'm so disappointed. I've had a couple of autos in a cupboard with cfl lighting and a fan in a dwc bucket. I've stupidly kept the door closed and the fan has been blowing around the same air. Everything was grand buds are probably ready to go but literally overnight some form of mould set in. At first I thought it was just really heavy trichomes but i looked at it with the magnifying glass and this is not trichomes. Only some buds are infected so far and some leaves. If I blow hard it seems to look better. Ahh I'm so bummed out right now. Can I save this. Ps, I took a photo of the worst mould but it's on a really shitty bud. I have some good colas going on but obviously wasn't expecting miracles under cfl. I know why this has happened. I should have vented better but can someone help me to fix I can harvest now if needed
Thats powder mildew you can treat it with greencure it will not kill it but it will rinse off and keep it at bay till harvest but you will need to treat about every 3-4 days
You need to build a hepa filter air scrubber; either that or buy one. Use the best grade filters you can and a couple extras.
sorry to hear that r.i.p but hey this is how you learn . I remember the first time i cured my weed in jars in my closet with the door closed and i messed up over 10 lbs in a few days mold everywhere and that was with the lids of the jars lol.
Thanks for the replys everybody. The mildew wasn't really bad was mostly on the leaves. I trimmed and submerged bud in a baking soda/water solution. Gave them a wee swirl. Left them for about an hour. Now they're drying in the spare room on a rack. A fan is blowing but not directly on them. There is no sign of mould at all. I hope they dry nicely with no issues.
The powdery milldew was only really on the leaves. I cut all the shit away and harvested before it spread. The buds don't show any signs of mildew. I've used a x60 loup on every bud. I read that baking soda kills the fungi and is food grade safe. I also bathed them in a milk water solution. I will keep an eye on them drying and if I Dont see any signs of mould I'll certainly smoke that shit up
Call me crazy but I wouldn’t touch nothing that was once covered in mold. I’d filiar feed my plants with sewer water before smoking that.
How long have you smoked? In my 50+ years smoking thru pariquat sprays in the 70’s and all the unlimited bullshit we’ve smoked over the years Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That’s a bit irrelevant.. I guess some of us just have higher standards for what we put in our lungs ♂️
Buy a UVA lamp and shine it on all your buds first Turn it to oil via alcohol. Rosin press it after you borrow Hunter2348's Rosin apparatus. Use Hepa filters in your room... line the room corners with copper salts. Get a sulfur burner and smoke out your grow room with it. just some stoner suggestions for next time.
If you had higher standards for what you put in your lungs, you wouldn't be smoking in the first place. Do you really think that OP's slight run-in with mildew is going to add significant health risk, when compared to the choice of inhaling burning organic matter in the first place? You've bored a hole in the bottom of your boat, and now you're worried that it's raining lol.
No worries OP. I've worked in the inspection vault at one of the largest cannabis producers on the planet. My job (in that vault at least) was to bend or break open buds, inspect for mold, mildew, or bugs. White Powdery Mildew (often abbreviated to WPM) can quite literally just be wiped away with a finger and the bud is smokable after, though it won't stop spreading unless you take measures and actually treat the plants. I'm not sure how to combat it, but I can tell you (with absolute certainty) that, under Health Canada's standards, the bud is still in consumable condition, provided there's no visible sign of WPM (looks sort of like white fluorescent spray) on the leaves or bud at time of actual consumption. We just trimmed the mildewy leaves away, inspected the rest of the bud, determined it was still good, and placed it back on the tray. Mold, on the other hand, usually starts inside the buds (where the moisture collects). It often looks like a white cloudy "fuzz" that connects the bud matter from the inside. Sometimes the cloudy fuzz can be brown, or even orange. In that case, it's a bigger deal. But all we would do is collect the mouldy bud in a bin, and send it to Oil Extractment. That process neutralizes any mold present. Bottom line is, don't worry my dude. Even IF you don't work on your airflow problems, and IF the WPM continues to spread, there's always something that can be done with your THC. Even if you'd rather not smoke it!
