As the owner of both a Grav Labs and a Weedstar this is what I think. I actually own the bigger version of the Weedstar and it is a very good bong. Girls think it's sexy. I think it's the black and white sections they like. The thing I don't like about the "worked sections" is that they are too perfect - it's obviously done by machine. But that's strictly from an artistic point of view. And if you're into the artistic aspect of functional glass you wouldn't be considering a Weedstar in the first place. Anyway, machine made wig wags don't affect the function of the bong. And owning a Weedstar you always run the risk of someone saying, "That's China glass blah blah blah…" I have a Grav Labs but it's a totally different model. All I can say is Grav Labs makes quality glass that is respected. So I'd say decide based on why you're buying a bong. Is it to enhance your smoking experience? Either will do just fine. Are you out to impress other people? If so are they people you actually smoke with or is it people on this message board? For the record my Weedstar gets more use than the Grav Labs, but that's because when people have a choice they want to try the bong that lays down and has these neat black and white things going on.
I'd really say it all depends where you plan to smoke it, at least when you've limited it to those choices. If you plan to be smoking in bed or laying down in the sofa then obviously the grav labs has some disadvantage I'd say that GravLab is better quality then weedstar, the WS ACs I've had all were a bit sloppy. This is how ever speculation and personal feeling, so don't really quote me on this one but figured I would mention it so you could maybe get some input from other people. I cant really see if those GL trees are reinforced. Might be a dual slit tree or a reinforced with an open end. Either way, I think that the WS might be smoother. You might also consider slightly more versatile versions (click) of the GL one that has more diffusion + reinforced joints.
I love the input so far. I smoke with my peoples everyday so basically i was just looking for the best performance which is probably the GL but i wanted to get a little artsy so i picked out the weedstar now im thinking about getting the grav and a american product like hvy or custom creations. what yall think
If you want a high functioning piece then I think that the C2 tripple ratchet might be a good choice in that price range too. It stacks great on water tests but I'd really like to see how it stacks during milking.
Anything Grav Labs is quality. My favorite glass brand and still decent prices, not too overpriced. I was thinking about getting the same piece too!
