Help me pick a strain, criteria below.

Not tried any of those but the Afghan Kush ryder and Pakistan ryder are very nice to smoke, the auto's are getting much better if you get the right ones. I wouldn't bother with lowryder now that lowryder 2 and these other strains are out.

 

Check out Chronic Ryder by the Joint Doctor, aka Lowryder Seeds.
I'm a big fan of their Diesel Ryder, and Chronic Ryder is their newest strain.

 

A few of the seedbanks do pick and mix or single seeds but you usually end up paying much more for them than you would if you bought a full pack of each

 

I've not done too many autos but I've tried a few. My first auto was last year or the year before when Attiutde had those G13 Labs Quicksilver as freebies. That wasn't bad to grow but it wasn't the best to smoke.

Since then I've done Afghan and Pakistan ryder from World Of Seeds, they are dwarf autos but the high was very good. I wouldn't say they are as good as non-auto strains just yet but much much better than what the dealers are selling around here and thats what matters to me .

My buddy has a nice auto grow using Sweet seeds Cream caramel auto, looks lush but not smoked any yet

 

you might want to try the under 2 foot tall lowryder x hindu kush & lowryder x AK47 strains. i don't know how they smoke, but that's pretty compact. you can also get pretty compact plants out of compact indica dominants like LSD if you flower them early. i started flowering mine at the 3rd leafset and got a tiny plant under 2 feet tall. LSD has an initial mildly psychoactive buzz you can function on that eventually creeps into a knockout stone after a couple hours. it's also reasonably low odor, but if you smell it up close early in flowering, it has a sickeningly sweet cat piss on flowers & grapes odor that fades to a nicer grapes only odor later. very sticky & dense buds in that.

you could also fit "larger" plants in a cabinet using supercropping techniques like low stress training or SCROGging, but lowryders are the best bet for cabinet growing.

i want to test allegedly trippy gnomo and report on that some day along with popular lowryder #2.

if you want a really small, sticky and super skunky plant, look out for flumpy's lowdown mystery. i got some freebies of that a few years ago, and it was the stinkiest plant i've ever grown.

no, most strains, even indica hybrids are going to stretch too much for a really compact cab and FORGET IBL sativas. they're too much trouble to grow even in a full sized room.

if you read the strain descriptions at attitude, they include height. if you want to try something other than lowryders (aka autos), make sure to get strains that are compact. flowering times under 60 days are likely your best bets in "regulars".

nirvana makes great regular strains, but stay away from their fems & autos.

lowryder & short stuff are 2 of the most popular breeders of autos. i don't know how good kannabia is though. i got some shark attack freebies at another site that didn't pop, so until i hear a rave for them, don't have any opinions. freebies are generally old stock. i've had a few that were 0%.

LSD is a "regular" strain, but as far as those go, it's the shortest one i've ever grown so far

 

egg shells give your plants calcium.

more than flowering time though, look for height stats. joey weed C99 finishes flowering in something like 50 days, but it was twice as tall as LSD was, especially the "haze" phenos. but mine all turned out well under 3 feet tall with early flowering. they also didn't yield what they were capable of.

really, your best bet is to use a nice small lowryder cross to be safe and cram as many as you can fit in your space. gnomo should be REALLY compact as it's advertised as 45 days from soak to harvest which is FAST! i have no idea how it smokes, but i bet they're are a bunch of comparable lowryders like the wicked compact hindu kushes.

fastest flowering is a good idea in a cabinet grow so you get faster turnaround.

you really should read a grow guide to learn super-cropping techniques and try and google cabinet grows here or at other forums for ideas. i've seen all kinds of funky cabinet grows including a soda vending machine and a tin kitchen wastebasket.

as to nutes, the more variety you can give your plants, the better. a composted soil like you get at department stores is a bare minimum, but you can use stuff like worm castings, composted manure or even liquid suppliments like fish juice and liquid kelp. weed will grow in the crappiest nutrient & air starved clay soils, but it will suck. if you just give your plants at least a gallon of quality soil, you should be able to grow something. more than one grower just buys fox farm's soil blend and uses just that. you can go as nuts on nutes as your wallet allows afterthat.

there are forums right here too where you should read up on grow related issues. i bet there's a thread or two about cabinet grows here that should help and if you can't find your answers, ask.

just remember, if you grow autos... forget cloning. you need vegetative growth for that. that's one of the benefits of growing regulars, but they're better suited for small grows like you're planning.

if you haven't built your cab yet, i'd try to find a way to make a bigger grow like getting a 50 or more gallon plastic tub & making it lightproof. the more space you have to work with, the better. you could easily SCROG at least 4 regular "cash crop" plants in a larger tub.

one grower hid his grow inside cardboard boxes in a closet, but that's too much of a fire hazard if you ask me. i don't know what your exact living situation is, but if i couldn't get gear in a closet, i'd do something like buy a cheap dresser at a thrift shop and hollow it out.

 

Another helpful hint. Hazey grapes is full of it and quite mental. Anything he says needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt. He doesnt grow, and according to him he doesnt smoke anything with indica in it and he cant find any sativa, which means he doesnt smoke either. So he doesnt smoke or grow yet he spends all day on a grow site telling other people what and how to grow....? Very mental...

What is this sudden kick with LSD? He has never mentioned LSD before and all of a sudden as of last week every single post is spamming LSD. Must have read a new smoke report and now is pretending like he knows something.


I am actually really close to the point that if Grasscity is going to continue to allow him to come here lying to new people and giving them blatantly false information, I will find a new site to go. He has been banned from every other grow site on the internet.

pineapple express sounds yummy. is that a C99 cross? now that i think of it though, it probably isn't as i had some pineapple bud last year that wasn't like C99 at all. iit was more of a mid, but not too stoney. i think it was my favorite out of three strains.

 

Barney's Pineapple express ia an auto, I don't mind auto strains if you need them but I'd much rather smoke some non-auto stuff.

The Pineapple express from G13 Labs might have some C99 as it does has a slight pineapple taste IMO but Im not sure as its really not very potent
