I'm a political noob, I was never a fan of politics because it always seemed to be a big jumbled mess of what-the-fuckery and tom-assery. I can't tell you the difference between a left and right wing person. I'm not even sure which party (repub or democ) is considered left or right. But I want this to change. I'll be able to vote for the first time this year and I consider each person's vote to be important, so I want to make a conscious, informed decision on who I want to run this country. What I'm asking is for you to point me in the right direction on where to find unbiased information on each party and the current running candidates. I don't trust googling this kind of thing because of the large swaying opinions.
First off. ^ You're right. Republican tends to mean right. (Republicans also tend to be conservative) Democrat tends to mean left. (Democrats tend to be liberal) Unbiased information? Almost every news company is biased in one way or another. The only major media source I've found to be generally reliable and fairly unbiased is Anderson Cooper on CNN. Another way to get your information would be to say, watch MSNBC and their view on an issue, then watch Fox news for their view and make up your mind from the two opposing views. MSNBC = Liberal, FOX = Conservative. Hope that helps a little. Ron Paul = Libertarian running on Republican ticket.

Very quickly, both US parties work for the same corporate interests, and nothing is truly going to change, so I wouldn't recommend trying to get your political ideologies from the Republican or Democratic parties. Just research a bunch of common ideologies, wikipedia is actually a good source. Get your news from a reliable source. Star off from there.
