i have this old zippo lighter i never used, and i want to get working so i can use it to spark my blunts. its got flint, i can flick it and i get sparks, but i'm missing the wick i think it's supposed to have. also, when i take the middle out, to get to the part where you refil it, the whole thing is hollow. i think i remember there being a cotton like substance in there, i think i pulled it out...what's that? can i buy the things i need at a local db mart or 7/11? thanks, i just never bothered learning about zippo's.
mine has a cotton like substance in the bottom, which is replaceable... and you can buy wicks in packs pretty cheap... i don't know if a quickie mart or 7/11 would have any of that... try your local smoke shop, anywhere that specializes in cigars or Zippos will have everything you need
the screw looks like it's there to change the flint...i'll go check out some smoke shops around here, i'll let you guys know. thanks for the help.
Yeah, the screw holds the flint inside of the metal tube. The wick simply is put in, and cotton stuffed around it. Thus when you refil it, you just soak the cotton in fluid, which soaks the wick. You should be able to buy everything you need at a smokeshop that sells Zippos. Or if you wanted to, you could mail the lighter itself to the Zippo Corp. and they'll fix it for free. Those suckers have a lifetime warranty on 'em, and Zippo will put it in the best condition they can and send it back to you. The info about it is on their website somewhere. Hope that helps
Yeh once you get the cotton, you need to pull part of it through the whole to form the wick, you'll probably need tweezers to pull it though, its quite fiddly. Then you get some zippo fuel and slowly pour some onto the back of the cotton, soaking through to the wick. Id advise buying some spare flints aswell though, it gets very annoying to one day find out youve worn it down from too many zippotricks. Its a damn shame the fire safety association or whatever it was closed down the zippotricks site, i managed to learn a few off there before it closed.
i think mine's a zippo clone, and not an actual zippo, so sending it in woudln't work. can i buy the cotton from a smoke shop? i'll make sure to get fuel, wicks, flint, and the cotton. thanks.
my dad has a really sweet lighter from the 40's that was my grandmothers i want to get it fixed so i can use it
any smoke shop that sells zippos should have everything you need... i would expect them to have the cotton
