I don't know what all is relevant so I'm going to include all of the information I can think of. I'm also going to include A LOT of pictures. My goal for this house is 60 plants, possibly more, with 15 plants being harvested every month. 30 Vegging, 30 Flowering at all times. I'm going to be using soil. This grow house is way out in the middle of nowhere. The closest neighbors are about a mile away through thick forest and shrubbery. We also own tons of land around us (35-40 acres) and the house is about right in the middle. Point is, it doesn't need to be super stealth (although we still want to filter ventilation and we don't want it super visible from the outside)... we can really do whatever we want. Also, we have a well, and our water is completely pure without any of the chemicals of city water. Right now I have 3 lights. 1 x 1000 Watt Hortilux HPS w/ DayStar Hood 1 x 600 Watt Hortilux HPS w/ DayStar Hood 1 x 2' Fluorescent For Clones The 600 is being used for vegging right now, and the 1000 is being used to flower my big rhino plant. (See link to grow in my signature if you want to see plants) The House Here is a blueprint of the upper level of the house. I didn't make a blueprint for the lower level, but you'll see what it's like in the pics. I think we'll only use the lower level if we need to. A couple notes: The little boxes on the outside wall represents windows. Preferably ventilation would go out the windows on the east side (left side when looking at blueprints) The red numbered rooms have very high ceilings, but most of them slant down (see pics) The blue numbered rooms have pretty short ceilings... no more than 4-5 ft. Quick Photo Tour of the house while it's empty: Here is a picture of the doors leading inside the house. These are the doors on the bottom of the blueprint (south side). This photo is looking in from the door on the right. It looks down the hallway towards room 1. These next two pictures are of room 2. This is taken from room 2 looking towards room 3, 5, and 7. This is taken from near the stairs, towards the south side of the house. You can see most of room 1. This is the east side of room 1. (right side on blueprint) This is the west side of room 1. (left side of blueprint) Here is a picture of room 6. Here are pictures of the stairs going to the lower level. Here is a picture looking from the door in the above picture towards the lower level. In the very back there is a small closet, and below the stairs is another room that follows the curve of the stairs. And a picture showing the room under the stairs. How it's set up right now: The east side of room 1 (right side on blueprint) is where the veg room is set up right now. Here is a picture of the outside. Off to the right are the stairs that lead down to room 2 and the doors leading out: Here is a picture of the little area between the sheet in the photo above, and the actual room. The veg room is on the left, and the rest of room 1 is on the other side of the sheet on the right. Here is a picture of the inside of the veg room. In the back of the veg room there is space for air to come in through the windows. There is also a fan off to the right. Here is a picture of the flower room which is in room 2. So, basically I'm wondering how you guys would set up this house if you could do it any way you like. Your suggestions should be for 30 plants vegging, 30 plants flowering at all times. I would love it if you would include as much detail as possible. Lights, ventilation, c02, humidity, basically anything. Any and all comments are appreciated! Let me know what you think.
If you're not, you should begin working on that house immediately. Some kids might come looking around to mess with something and come across your plant. From there plenty of different bad situations can come about. Just sayin' >_>
Not gonna happen. You can clearly see everything you need to in the pics... I only included the blueprint to make the pictures less confusing and make it easier to say what room you are talking about. Honestly nobody has any actual suggestions or ideas?
I have a few suggestions / questions. First - what are your light timing ideas? If you're going to be running the lights 24x7 during veg - the skylights are a plus - little additional natural light should be good. If you are worried about heat/energy costs and want to go with an 18 hr veg cycle - then you'd prolly wanna block off the sunlights and run the lights during the night (8pm - 2pm) as to make use of the cooler temps and get away with less ventillation. for 60 plants - you're prolly going to want to invest in some more lights. (I'm guessing the lights are a small portion of the investment if this property[whether rented or owned] is going to be used for just growing ) Maybe 1 more each of the 1k and 600 so you've got 2k for flower and 1200 for veg. since you have open walls (are you planning on finishing? It prolly won't matter much if you don't) - make sure you have enough circuits for the power demands. I'd reccommend keeping each 1k on its own circuit and then you can run the fans to cool each light off the same circuit. You might get away with 1 circuit for the 2x600's if you go that route. With cooling - are you planning on using cool tubes and/or ducting or controlling the temp of the entire place with a bigger fan / ac units. You mentioned odor control - carbon scrubbers? Again could be placed at the exit of localized venting or whole house venting. It definitely looks like a promising location to grow given the isolated nauture of the building. Looks to be built as a sort of rural getaway vaca cabin type deal. You also mentioned soil. Whats the plan there? What size pots/bags? Whats the nutrient plan? Organic soil supplied nutes or liquid? For configuration are you going for a sog/trained seetup or just going for some monsters? The angled ceilings look challanging in some spots. What kind of clearance are we looking at? Are you looking to just utilize the highest parts running along the center roof beams? I'm assisting in the setup for a friends grow, a smaller 2 room veg/flower setup in an attic (heat is the biggest issue I can see there so I'm focused on energy/heat output and ventilation) and the ideas are definitely flowing right now.
Looking through the house pics again - I think you could def support more plants in this house (especially looking at the pics of room 2 - pic 4 in your first post. Where do thoses vents come from? Looks like a nice fresh air source). What are your ultimate intentions with this grow? Grow upstairs and use the bottom as a wooded retreat or maximize growing potentilial? Obviously giving the appearance of using the location for its intended relaxing aspect helps to mask other operations, but if the focus is on results my suggestions will vary significantly.
I haven't seen enough evidence that 18/6 is better to sway me off of 24/0. I did read in another thread that it isn't good to mix natural and artificial lights because they are different frequencies and mess with the plant. I could be wrong on that though... does anyone know for sure? Yeah, definitely going to be buying more lights. I am basically going to be adding lights and plants every cycle and let the previous harvest pay for more lights and other equipment. I am thinking as a base one 600 per every 6 plants vegging, and one 1000 for every 6 plants flowering... I may buy more once I reach that, but that's what my goal right now is.
There is already 4000 sq. ft. finished, so this space is not something that is going to be finished any time in the foreseeable future. All of the wiring for the electricity is already done, just need to have someone (maybe me) put outlets on the boxes. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on that now though. Going to be adding ducting and AC units very soon. All of the internal ventilation is in place, I'm just not sure where it all goes and how I can tap into it yet. I might go with a mobile AC unit or 2 in the short term and then over the winter really figure out the cooling situation. I'm going to be using Fox Farms Ocean Forest. My friend who has grown quite a bit is going to be helping me with the nutes. As far as I know though, they are getting nutes from the soil during vegging, and will get nutes with the water during flowering. As far as sog/trained... I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the pros and cons are. If it's more yield without affecting the quality of the bud, then I can't see not doing that. I don't think I will have issues with the slanted ceilings. I think 60 plants can be supported without having to go close enough to the walls where it would be an issue. I do think that in the future we could run 2 or 3 rows of plants down the entire length of the large room, and then have a couple different rooms for flowering... not sure that's necessary though. Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions... they are very much appreciated.
How are you planning on getting a secret grow room past your electrical inspector when he comes by to check the work? ~Experimentalist
Those vents are for heating and air conditioning. I'm not sure exactly where they go, but I'm working on finding that out.
This structure is an addition to an existing house. The outside is finished, obviously the inside is not. There are no plans for it other than to grow in it. Any and all space inside the house could theoretically be used to grow. Let me know what you think.
I'm not entirely positive on this, but I'm about 80% sure the electrical inspection has already been done. If not, I guess I won't be having it inspected.
No inspection will cause a whole mess of problems for you man. Really. I hope you check up on that before you get to far. No inspection = Lots of potential problems with insurance/banks or resale, etc. If I were you I'd just wire up a room and convert it to the grow space after the final inspections were completed. Awesome potential here though man, good job! ~Experimentalist
I'm fairly certain it's already been done. Thank you for the heads up though, I'm going to make sure I check on it. And thank you... I am very excited to see what this turns into.
OP do what ever it takes for no official having to come to your house for any reason. I assume you already know what happens to the house and the rest of YOUR property if you get caught...so take every caution possible! Also how is your meter being read? Is someone coming by or is it read remotely?
The meter is located far, far away from the house at the bottom of the driveway. The meter guys don't come anywhere near it, nor can they even see it. Also, I don't think I said this but I do think it's important to note that this is and always will be a 100% legal grow, at least as far as Colorado is concerned. I have an attorney on retainer that makes sure I stay within the law. That being said, I don't plan on ever testing out what happens if the cops come.
just a note, the electrical inspection should have been done already, as it has been insulated already
Well OP I don't know if you were just dreaming or if you actually followed up on this but I can tell you one thing if it really is a "100% legal grow" as you put it then you should get a 40 foot refrigeration container (already insulated), install lights with light movers, air circulation/conditioning system and the grow system of your choice and live in the house instead of screwing it up by growing in it... The growing container would cost less than 20K ready to go. On edit: Having looked @ some of your other posts I suspect you were just dreaming...
It wasn't dreaming... I've been working on my outdoor grow and also working on getting more cards so I can grow more and keep it all legal. For everyone suggesting that I finish the house... considering that I already live in a 5000 sq./ft. house not too far from this one... I have absolutely no interest in finishing it. I won't use it so it would be a waste of money. Which is why I chose it for the grow. So... let's drop that. I'm picking up another 1000 Watt tomorrow which will bring me to two 1000's and one 600. I am going to need to start working on AC and ventilation soon as it's starting to heat up. Right now both rooms are hovering at about 70-72 degrees... but I suspect that will go up given the 95 degree weather we are supposed to get next week. I think eventually the entire big room is going to be used for flowering since it has the tallest ceilings. The rest of the space will be used for vegging and cloning. -The Budmaster
