Gotta question. I have a little light bleaching on the tops of my plants. im 3 wks into flower n it looks like some bud leaves are yellow whitish possibly some of buds. Its still in the stage where its only shooting out pistils so its hard to see damage to the calyx. Should I leave it n just raise the light or raise it and cut off the parts that r bleached? How fucked am I? Did I drastically hurt my yield or top colas? I'm under a 400w ups cool tube. I'm at least 6-8 inches away from the light now that I raised it. I will probably raise it to 12 because now I'm paranoid
I have my tops about 12 to 16 inches away depending on their growth. When i first start them they bleached and i had moved the light further away. They recovered within a week as far as reduced yeild and such idk because this is the first time its happened and im only starting my third week of flower with my scrogSent from my SCH-S738C using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Can you post a pic? I am running a 1k under my scrog. So id assume yours wouldnt need to be as far away as mine. I keep having to raise mine because my tops keep growing and shading everything else. I wish i wouldve scrogged a little better befor the tops got so highSent from my SCH-S738C using Grasscity Forum mobile app

But enough for me to notice that I'm going white. I'm going to raise it to about 12 to be safe. I just want to hear that I don't have to worry n raise my lamp
I dont think you are going to be light bleaching anything with a little 400W light. you are just getting rapid growth thats so young it has not gained color yet. I run 2 1,000w and get closer than 12 inches and dont have problems. It will burn plants at 10 inches.
Really? It really looks like bleaching. I know what new yellow growth looks like. This is only on the inner ends of my cola towards the light. So it looks like its been bleached where it has been facing the light. It was at about a inch or 2 away before. Cuz I'm dumbSent from my XT907 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I had this problem. It mainly occurred when the CFL's I ran were touching the plants. The CFL bulbs I had them under seemed a lot stronger than what the nursery had them under x). I did have 520 actual watts of CFL in a 2x4 closet though. I recently put them under a bled of 2x600 watt Metalhallide and HPS. Underneath these,at 20 inches away, the leaves have darkened a lot. Too much for my liking, but growth is great. I'm sure 400 watts can bleach an array of plants that have adjusted to lower light levels, and certain strains. My sativas for instance were NOT impressed by the high amount of light, and stretched regardless. Developing elongated stems,W/Stunted and small dark leaves. If you started from seed, and they are getting sun-bleached out of nowhere, it may not be sun-bleaching.
I did start from seed, they are special queens. I raised my light my tops are now 5 inches away from the glass, and at least 7-8 away from the actual bulb. I was touching my glass w my tops when I noticed the bleaching orginally. Hopefully raising it solves my problems. 12 inch seemed to far away so,Sent from my XT907 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
