Hey all. whats up. One of my plants is 5 weeks old and it has started growing tiny little red hairs that point downward on the stem. I was told by a friend that if the hairs point downward it is female and if they point upward it is male. Is this correct? If not, can someone tell me what those red downward pointing hairs mean? no. male flowers are clusters of balls where the leaves join the stem...a male that is preflowering looks like it has a ball on a stick joined to the stem... a female has a pear shaped piece with pistils (white hairs) emerging from it... any signs of white hairs and youre in.... as far as i know all plants have what you have described... not all plants show their sex either before you trigger flowering...
