hi, ive looked up countless ways to the internet and i need like a real persons opinion to my specificc situation. this is my 5th year growing, this year i thought i would top my plant. i have made a terrible mistake i think in taking to much off of it. i got it a couple or three weeks ago and its leaves are acting like its asleep and not much is happening. did i mess it up beyond repair????
She's recovering from the shock of losing her top half (third?). You are right- you took way too much. Unless you want to make clones, all you need to remove when topping is that first inch or less. If she were mine, I'd give her some weak manure "tea" or a weak fish fertilizer solution to give her a little boost. (Just like in tomatoes, too much nitrogen makes lots of leaves, but not more buds.) Then give her a week or so to "digest" the tea or fish solution, and she should start growing again. Granny
its been raining the last couple days so that might be the cae it just hasnt grown like in past years. okay, yeah i misunderstood the process, should i take it out of the ground and into a pot to treat her?
okay... cuz we have 4 other plants, 1(banana punch) is way further than all the rest, it is also the one i bought w/ this girl who is the topic of this disscusion/ thread(sherbert og). and the other 3 are my brothers, and i hhave never seen plants that have grown this slowly, he's even went out of his way to add a watering "drip" system for his (Lime Lickz, Delta Diamonds, Lemon Merengue) I'll post some photos of them too on this feed.
Don't remove the plant from the ground, it's just gonna cause more stress. Just let it do it's thing, it'll get over the stress and bounce back. I had 8 plants I topped this year and 2 of them I took to much and they took a week longer to recover than the other 6. Now you can't tell the difference between em all. You'll be fine lol. Fire the head grower... There is little that can be done besides up root and transplant into a better thought out grow medium that is above the ground surface
LOL Think about where your plants are and what preparation you did for them. Another guess your ground looks clayish or retains water. If you would of used grow bags, that still would of left a option. Besides digging them up and transplanting or some way to give the roots better drainage so the can get oxygen. You really haven't talked about the actual ground your plants are in ? No offense but you really haven't posted vital information,
You shouldn't need pruning shears to top your plant. I use my index finger & thumbnail. No need for alarm.
