Im building a setup for my jeep, looking for some advice. So basically im looking into these subs: Amazon.com: Kicker CompVR 07DCVR122 2-Ohm 2 Subwoofers In-Vent Box: Electronics And this Amp: Total Mobile Audio: Products Will this amp power the subs well enough? I was also looking at a kicker ZX750.1 amp but from what i see this one is better? Any help is appreciated.
Ill look into the type Rs, so they are nice subs? Ive heard people talking about alpine just never really used them. Also, am i gonna need a capacitor or a second battery to avoid killing my battery?
One more question guys, i decided on what im getting. Story short, its gonna be 2 15"s which will be pulling 1000w RMS together, and an amp that is 1000w RMS. My question is will i be safe to bump these for a week until i can drop money into a high output alternator? Also gonna grab a capacitor after the alternator (hear they arent nearly as important)
2 15s is a little over kill, but to each their own soooooo. yes you are safe with the stock alt for a while. the capacitor stores extra power and discharges only when the subs or amp need it, like for really heavy hits. if you are really worried about ruining your battery and alt i'd suggest an extra battery on top of the setup.
I wouldn't get 2 15"s, that is just dumb. Buy 1 15", because bass is different from normal speakers. Normal speakers you can tell where the treble is coming from, but if you have a strong enough bass, the whole point is to be able to not know where it is coming from, it should just envelop you. I am saving up for an 8Kw sub right now, and it would blow away 20 10" subs that are 80Ws each. Get a 1Kw 15", and have it done right the first time. Also, 2 15"s would actually be benificial, if you put one in the front of the car, and one in the back, but only if you are equidistant from both. This would provide a more equal sound throughout the car, where as 2 in the trunk sound the same as 1 in the trunk.
so much contradiction. i agree if you want too look like an ignorant ass then by all means do what he's doing and drown out the music.
My first part says buy 1 loud 15" My second part says if you insist on 2 weak 15"s, put one in front and one in back, so the weak ones can fill up the car.
Putting one sub in the front and one in the back is completely retarded. OP, I'll pm you with a nice setup.
Everybody loves type rs i dont get it ???? my friend had them and they sounded like crap compared to my system.. buy 2 12" JL W3's and get a decent amp it will pump very nicely in a ported box!!
ficaraudio.com. Check out the 15" BL. As far as an amp goes, I'd get a refurb off ebay. Planet Audio makes solid amps that put out there rated power. I had the PA 2250D pushing over 2000 RMS to my two subs. Also, check out caraudio.com/forum. They have a classifieds section. Also Also, Type R's are always a good pick. JL is overpriced.
Contact Peter Kulicki if you want to get the most out of it. I built one of his designs and it blew the old enclosure way out of the water. Plus if you don't have your gear yet, he can help you choose the shit that fits your needs/vehicle. The vehicle is really another part of your enclosure so it's beneficial to take it into account when designing the box. Peter W. Kulicki Designs Whatever you do, avoid prefabricated enclosures. I like Mach 5 Audio. Running a pair of the old MAW 12s and they are still going hard after a lot of abuse. Highly recommend you check out their shit. A pair of IXL 12s on an AQ2200d (Audioque: Amps: AQ2200D) would be nice. Subwoofers If you choose an amp that will draw lots of current (~1000W), I recommend mounting a voltmeter in the cabin so you can monitor the charging system. In the end: spending $50 with Pete will save you money on equipment.
