HELP Chlorosis!!!

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by suasa, Mar 5, 2007.

  1. So about a week and a half ago i realized i was overwatering, let my plants dry out for a week, when i started letting them dry out i realized one main fan leaf on one plant was developing chlorosis. THis is my first grow btw and i have 4 bagseed that would be about a foot tall but i am using lst and the side branches are getting 6-8 inches now. At first it was only one plant but now 3 have develped the condition and it is only getting worse, 4 days ago i bought some "growth plus" and am using it as a foliar spray its not helping with the chlorosis as far as i can tell. I had to chop off the original infected leaf. Its not a mineral problem, i am on well water and theres so much iron in it it turns my girlfriends hair tips a reddish tinge. Her stepdad used to grow here and i asked her mom about ph and she said he never adjusted it got it tested and said it was perfect for plants although i dont know what it is exactly, so i dont believe that its a PH problem locking out nutes or iron. Please help me out guys is there any cure all for chlorosis i dont want my plants to die i have fed em 3 times and am now at 3/4 strength nutes. they are about 5 weeks old i think hopefully you guys know something. Peace

  2. Not sure about that fertilizer. You better check the pH just to be sure. Soil pH should be between 6.0-7.0. Does the chlorosis start at the bottom or the top of the plants? Do you have pictures?

  3. Hey smknvtec, i do believe i just found my problem. I went and tested some tap water with my hottub tester kit with just the 5 drops of phenol, i know its not that accurate but i figured it would give me an idea. anyway its above 7.0 the 6.8 comes in as yellow and the 7.2 comes in a little bit red it looked just below a 7.2 when i put it on a white background. i have ph up/down for the hot tub but its about 10 ml for 1500l to go up/down 0.2 so i guess i should go find some ph down and start feeding 6.0-6.4? sound like a plan or what.
EDIT: oh and the fert was reccomended by the local hydro shop both guys who work there use it. It cost me $70/L i bought a half liter. i only use that as a foliar spray, i use shultz 10-15-10 for roots i know i'm cheap, but it works. my plants are doing great aside from the chlorosis. Oh and the chlorosis is starting at the bottom of the plant the whole leaf is doing it. I am gonna ask a local grower i know if he has a digital meter i could borrow. Thanks guys.

  4. The brown circles on the leaves are residue from my foliar spray. I just watered with some water taht i took the ph down on dont knwo how much but i added a few grains of my hottub PH down, and tested it it was pretty yellow below my scale somewhere in the 5-6 range i am guessing. Curious if the affected leaves will heal or are they gone now for good?? So is it a N deficiency do you think or magnesium or something else. Thanks whoever replies. Oh and you can see a couple of my newest kush clones i think only 8 of the 17 will survive, i got them from a grower who had too many and someone else was supposed to take em never did, so i got em before they all died. Thanks guys.

  5. The big plants look to me to have a nitrogen deficiency. The little ones I can't tell. The pH of the soil should be between 6.0-7.0. If it is out of these ranges do whatever you can to get it within range. If the pH is showing 7.2 try giving it pH adjusted water to 6.0 and retest pH. It is really just trial and error.

  6. will those leaves ever recover?? or should i cut them off.

  7. They will not recover, you can cut them off. Also cut all leaves that are in the soil, you don't want mold.
