Help! Am I OK?

    Blades,
    I was with 5 of my mates a few days ago. We smoked at one of his houses and then drove to a park (which was closed for the past hour, we didnt know) we hotboxed his car and suddenly the police rolled up. He asked us wheres the weed. My friend gave it to him, it was like .6-.7 of a gram in a little baggie. He took my friend who was driving out of the car and read no rights to him. He searched the rest of the car, found nothing. Searched us, nothing else. So we had a less than 50 grams and paraphenelia charge and were cuffed and brought down to the station. We got mugshotted and then our parents picked us up. Is there anyway I could get out of this, I admitted to taking a hit or two of the weed.

    First of all, you're showing your age. You must be 18 to be here

    Second, were you personally caught with anything? You can be let go if the driver takes the fall for all of it

    Agreed. Talk to the driver and have him own up to it.

    i'm not entirely sure what you can do about this. i hate police who think they can abuse their privileges because they're "above society" and believe they're more powerful than everyone. you could always defend yourself in court with that statement. you should always be given your rights

    You are only given your rights if you are being detained and questioned. They voluntarily talked to them, so there was no reason to read them their rights.

    You do not need to be given your rights every time you talk to the police, and it can only be thrown out if they used something they said in court to incriminate them.
