Hello. I'm new here. Long time smoker, but as I've gotten older the regular stuff tends to get me paranoid, and anxious. I much prefer weaker Indicas. I have recently discovered Delta 8 THC flower, and edibles. I like that even better. It works for me. Its a little more mild, and there seems to be an upper limit on how intoxicated I can get. The smokeshop near me sells flower, and edibles for really reasonable prices.

I am curious about reverse engineering edibles. I've had some strong edibles and candies, and also done some making of them. I've created my fair share of "knock you on your ass brownies" over the past 30 years for friends and family.

Can you reverse extract delta 8, or even delta 9 THC from edibles? Like disolve some gummies, and re-extract the purified THC? I've been wanting to experiment, since I can get the delta 8 gummies very cheap. I just dont know if its possible, or if it is possible, is it feasable? The recent pack of delta 8 gummies I bought are 10 gummies at 30mg each, for a total of 300 mg for the whole pack. Can I dissolve them some how, and extract the whole 300 mg of concentrated THC from them for research and experimentation purposes? Obviously there would be SOME minor loss....

I've made edibles, I've just never UN-made edibles for concentration purposes. Can it be done? How?

    Any ideas?

  2. First.
Don't ever underestimate edibles. They have NO upper limit. Take to much and it is a SEE GOD trip.

I don't know of a way to unbind the THC from say the Oil its been processed into for an edible.

We can show you how to make some of the most potent edible oil possible. BadKat blazed the trail and I've followed her path to Nirvana.

  3. You could separate the oils from the water based ingredients but you can't separate the THC from the other oils. Couldn't you just buy delta 8 THC flower to experiment with? I saw delta 8 flower advertised recently for about half the price (I think) of delta 9 THC flower.

  4. I could experiment with flower, but I thought edibles would give me a more precise dosage estimate, since I know exactly how many mg are in each one. Also thought Id get a purer product, since somebody already extracted it for me once.

  5. There is no natural D8 flower. D8 is synthetic. Isomerized CBD. It's being outlawed now and not considered safe. Any flower being sold as D8 is sprayed or otherwise adulterated. The only reason it's legal is because it's made from hemp but that's in court now, too. dragon (2015_10_01 04_32_03 UTC).gif

  6. I've read its not synthetic. Just a natural extraction and concentration. From what I've digested there is just far less naturally occurring delta 8 in regular plants, so they just extract it, and spray it on hemp to create delta 8 flower. The flower I buy definitely has something sprayed on it. It comes with a QR code, though, so you can scan it and see the lab it came from and how much of such and such it has....if you believe that. I'm not 100% sold, as I've seen some QR codes that were obviously for a product other than what they were packaged as.

  7. It's not naturally occurring in any kind of quantity and when it is, it's due to age. It's not directly extracted. It's converted from CBD through an isomerization process. It can also be processed into D9 and other cannabinoids like CBN and D10. The D9 can only be sold in legal states but the others can be sold anywhere because it's made from hemp and that's legal. .

I had no idea about any of this but I started reading an extractors' website where all the geniuses figure this stuff out. My eyes have been opened and I feel safer knowing some of the things I learned. If you have any interest in the science I wholly recommend www.Future4200.com. You don't have to take my word for it, just read some of the topics and you won't turn back. :)
