So this is my first grow. I have 2 girls both are supposed to be purple urkle but that’s another story. My light is HLG 65 4K and using FFOF, I just started using FF Grow Big. Anyway they are 6 weeks, they are healthy with lots of new growth and both about 7-7 1/2 inches tall. The branch length is an 1 - 2 inches which is causing the fan leaves to almost block out all the light for the new growth which isn’t growing as fast. Is this normal? Should I take off some fan leaves so light can reach the new growth?
I've never grown Purple Urkle, but it is an indica strain. True Indicas are short so the height seems fine. Photo's would help to determine if you need to remove leaves.
Without a picture it's hard to tell, but 7.5 inches in 6 weeks seems small. Such a small plant needs all the solar panel leaves it has, plus more. I think it would be harmful to cut anything off. At most, tie some branches off to the sides, Low Stress Training.
Everything about both girls is very compact. But the fan leaves are the size of my hand or slightly bigger. They are showing signs of happiness with leaves being perky and new fast growth everyday. My light is 20inches away from the tallest plant and both are in 1 gallon cloth pots.
