I've smoked myself into an extreme laziness / unfit lifestyle. Part of me feels like my lungs are in terrible condition. When i do occasionally get the nerve to hit the gym, i run for 5-10 minutes tops and half of that is usually warming up. My body feels weighted all over and my legs /shins tense way up, long before my lungs tell me to stop. Also my chest muscles tighten way up. I overall have terrible posture from long term muscle tension maybe anxiety from too much smoking or bad lungs protecting themselves. And lastly, when i do smoke i don't cough. Coughing is actually a sign of healthy lungs. I want to push the limits, really push it maybe run until i drop. I do work 2 jobs so I'm not totally sedentary, or overweight, but am in terrible shape. Has anyone gotten into extreme bad shape from smoking too much, and particularly, overcome it while still smoking pot? When i do smoke, i sorta go into my own little world it literally sucks the last of my energy out of me. On the other hand, working some days from 6 in the morning to 10 at night is a sad life without some pot around. So the Quitting solution isn't so simple. It makes it hard to push my body to the limit with less sleep / recovery time available. Over the last 10 years I have been a daily smoker usually bowls occasionally blunts but now just a little at night. I'm 31 years old and living like i am 50+. I never was in good shape before I started smoking and maybe this is the cause. Do i push past the uncomfortably in my muscles that tells me to stop or do i really test my limits and work my lungs back into function? Or do i need to face my long days with a sober mind. It is rare to see success stories of people overcoming poor health while smoking. When trying to find similar stories, all i see is "Does weed help or hurt runners" type articles of athletes and such who are already in their primes. I guess I looking for a little motivation and any insight anyone may have. Thanks folks
You should concentrate on your health. That's more important than anything. Maybe become an occasional cannabis user if you still enjoy it's effects. Continue working out. Don't over exert yourself. Ease into a routine. Eat healthy and don't overdo it on alcohol. Try using a vaporizer instead of burning. Moderation my friend.
If you go straight into hard running when your out of shape and you've never done it before then you'll just end up with fucked knees. I'd say fix your posture/muscle tightness first, you can get into stretching gradually and adapt to it (so it dosnt have the same impact as trying to get into sprinting suddenly), you'll be in a better place to start any further exercise programs you want to get in to after that and you'll likely feel you've made such progress and want to get more shit done.
I run every day, and I get high before every run. Granted I'm vaporizing wax (which doesn't affect the lungs at all), but sometimes I'll smoke a joint just for old time's sake. Try to avoid anything with rezin
