hi all ok so i made a grow room size 2ft deep by 3ft long by 5 ft high im running 8 23 watt cfls i put a 4 inch inline for exhaust on top rear venting outside i have 3 passive intake holes on bottom front 1 4inch 2 3inch the fan is 80 cfm only venting straight out doors no filters and temps are 87 degrees to hot so do i need more passive intake or more cfm im stumped and i want to get a 250 watt hps or 150 dont know witch will be better for room size should the hps burn cooler than all those cfls and i have a 6 inch fan blowing on lights but does not seem to help any input would be great ty
87 is not the worse but with CFLs all the heat is localized in tight areas with CFLs. Try using a fan to blow accross them. In a round about way HID lights can be easier to cool do to the design of the hoods and such and if you get a cool tube even easier...still can get hot. With a 4 inch inline fan you should be able to cool it. I have a 800w LED panel that puts out some serious heat but its a nice 80-85 in my tent with it on..I use a 4 inch inline fan hooked up to a carbon filter. Try closing some of your flaps at the bottom. In my tent just one is open it forces more pressure coming through one hole rather then many. YOu can feel a slight breeze if you put you hand in front of it. Remember cool air sucked in the bottom and out the top where heat collects but with CFLs if you dont have a fan blowing on them add it.
ty i closed 2 holes and put a 2 inch comp fan blowing in in the center hole took out 3 cfls and still running at 84 degrees its a little hot outside today so ill wait till night fall to see what happens ty for info fingers crossed oh by the way you think the hps will run cooler than 8 cfls im thinking 250 watt for my 6 sq ft gr
84 is not bad....also remember you will never get lower then room temp and usually always 5-10 degrees above it. So if its 75 in your house your lights will add to that.
yes so we will see if its good ill keep adding a light here and there tyim thinking ouside temp is a factor
