Heating and lighting during potential power outages?

  1. Hey guys I decided to start an op this winter but the area is cold and prone to power outages. I don't want to get a generator because that would end up costing atleast a grand and would run out of juice quickly but I digress. I am wondering if there is some way I could run a couple 900W grow lights and a hydro/heating system off of a battery array using something such as car or industrial gel type batteries? I am more interested in the car type batteries at this point but I have heard that the type of energy transmission from them wont work the same as others... Any help is appreciated. NOTE: it may be possible to do some of them in soil but I am talking about around 10 plants. Thanks

  2. IMO, is too run your system as the average grower and

build a circuit into your system that when lights go out

a bunch of 12v (RV) cfl's turn on.. until the power is restored

the cfl's are not to grow by ..but to prevent the plants herming on you later

    good luck

  3. They are called UPS.
    Uniterupptable Power Supplies.

I used one when I ran HID to cool the bulb in case power went out.

One big enough to run the light (let alone a whole grow system) will cost more then a generator.
