I have a few photoperiods growing in a 4x4 tent. This is my first time growing photoperiods indoors. I usually grow them outside or grow autos inside. I am growing grand daddy purple, GSC, zombie, and blue cookies. The lights being used are two 300watt quantum boards (600w total) running at 70% capacity (approx 400w) and about two feet above the plants during flower. Temp in plant is usually 21 degrees during flower and humidity between 50-55 (don’t have a dehumidifier or Ac unit). During the last few weeks I have noticed that the grand daddy purple in particular is foxtailing (Girl Scout cookies also foxtailing). It is also not ripening as fast as the others and the top buds appear to have more white pistils than the middle of the plant. I just wanted to know if anyone else has run into a similar issue with growing GDP, if the potency will be seriously affected, or if I’m at risk of it turning hermie? Do I just cut my losses and chop it? It is going into its tenth week of flowering but still has plenty of clear trichomes and white pistils. I have moved the lights up another half foot and turned the light power down so each light in the tent is only running at 50% (300w total). The quantum boards are 3000k. I am thinking I underestimated the amount of heat the lights were putting off but any insight, or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
In that first pic, I see some nanners too. At 10th week in flower there's not much to worry about for it going hermie. A true hermie will grow balls. I'd give it a week for the trichs to go mostly cloudy and then chop.
Light stress! At the end if a grow I always back my light hours down and also reduce light Sent from my SM-G935T using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Yeah, I’m planning to snip them off and hope I don’t get anymore. Might have to harvest this girl early if they keep popping out. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Yeah that was what I thought too. Weird because I haven’t had this issue while growing autos. Usually get pretty close with the light. I think the plants may have stretched and I didn’t adjust the lights in time. Def a bummer because they looked super frosty up until this week. Learn and grow. More than likely the nanners are sterile and a natural reaction. The plant thinks it's gone to far, gotten too ripe. "If a female plant is allowed to go too long without being harvested or pollinated (allowed to go past the point of optimal harvest), she will sometime produce a bunch of bananas in her buds as a last-ditch attempt to self-pollinate and create seeds for the next year. This is sometimes known as rhodelization. This is not as destructive as other types of hermies since it only happens after plants are already past the point of optimal harvest."
