Heat solution

  1. The closet where I grow gets a little warm, sometimes up to about 96F. I already have a box fan in there, and I leave the door open. I have the fan blowing on the plants to strengthen the stem up. I'm not sure if putting another fan in there will really help. I feel that it's just blowing the warm air around. I do leave the door open right now, but I have to be careful when it's time for them to sleep.

I also am out of town during the week 100% of the time, so I really don't want to leave the ac on permanently. And even with the ac on the room still can get pretty warm.

I was looking online and I saw these air cooler units. They are not actually ac units, they cool the air using water somehow. The ads say they can lower the temp in a room by 10F.

Has anybody had any experience with these?

I'm thinking about getting one.... I can get this one through Target for about $75 US.

  2. Yeah the swamp cooler. I am actually researching the same thing now but just yesterday at Lowes a guy told me that his father purchased one and returned it in two days because it didn't work good enough, saying you had to start it early in the morning. However, these coolers say they cool an area of 200 square feet up 10-12 degrees, so if the space you are working with is smaller, like mine, maybe it will work. If it's humid in your area then the cooler won't work well as it adds humidity by basically spraying water particles around the room.

  3. yeah, my closet is about 8ftx5ft.... so I have about 35sqFt max. I have a temp/humid monitor in there that meaures min/max temp and humidity. The humidity has not gone over 44%. It usually sits around 33-38%. I'm really thinking that this would work pretty good for what I need.

  4. I've heard great reviews and horrible reviews so I went on targets website and researched return policies. You would be able to return it within 90 days, they wont return shipping and handling but you may be able to return it to one of the store locations. That's my plan.

  5. a swamp cooler is only good for un humid parts of the world, like the desert southwest of usa. in hi humidity area, it wont do what u want it to do.

maybe a portable AC is the answer?

    or maybe better venting?

but a swampcooler is only good for a barn sized area.

  6. How a closet can be at 75F even with the better fan in the world if its 100F outside and no AC in the house/appartment? Impossible?!?!?

What happen to a plant that that have temperature oscillating between 75F and 95F !?!? It grow less?

    a+
