I was wondering; I just recently purchased this grow box from dealzer.com : Cash Crop | 6 Plant Grow Box I am wondering if I keep it in a closet in the first floor of my 2 story house, if it would cause suspicious heat signatures and get the fuzz involved. I do not think it would, since you have about 180w between 3 bulbs at any given time, but I was just wondering as a general concern.
Cancel your order because you just paid $400 for a $25 wooden cabinet lined with reflective mylar and a powerstrip with $15 light bulbs on it. Plus, that thing isn't nearly enough to grow 6 cannabis plants in. Please, please, please read around this site some more before you drop big bones and look at other peoples setups. Buy yourself a grow tent, 4"/6" inline fan, carbon filter, 250/400 watt HPS cooltube + ballast off of amazon.com trust me you'll be way better off.

On a side note, that kit is horrible and ranks among the worst grow related ripoffs I have seen. That is a failed grow waiting to happen.
Cops don't care about a few plants. It would cost too much for a bust for such little outcome. Also I recommend you return your order as that is a rip off, big time.
yeah that is a massive rip off. that's no more than $100 worth of gear but no, that sort of heat wouldn't even heat the room that the box was in. no heat signature would be visible from outside, I unless the rest of the house was freezing cold, and your house is badly insulated, but even then it probably wouldnt show up many people may have an electric fire running in a room. these can be a few thousand watts and almost all of that is converted to heat. 180w of cfl is mostly converted to light, only a small amount is converted to heat. you would struggle to warm your hands on it on a cold day
Okay. I am trying to return it now. But if I go with the HPS cooltube and all that; how much would it charge for electricity a month if I ran it for, let's say 16-20 constantly? I can't have a significant change, due to other household members noticing. I wouldn't mind really if it was me, but I am not the only one living here paying bills and such. Just another general concern I have been wondering about for awhile now. And thanks for all the help guys, I'm super new to growing and this has all really helped me out.
I wouldn't worry about the heat signature with such a small grow. I think the difference on the powerbill will be very small with under a few hundred watts. ...guessing, but probably under 10$. A 40" flatscreen runs at about 200-300watts, spaceheaters use up a ton of electricity also...usually 1800watts or so. If you are really worried about a small electricity change and if you have the extra cash, just go buy some 10$ ledbulbs at lowes and change out your normal lighting....this will savs you a few watts here and there to balance it all out. I also agree to return that box and just build one yourself. I'd hit up a thrift store and buy a small wood cabinet for 10-20$ . There's plenty of people that would be happy to help you get it built, myself included. Also when you build your own setup you will know exactly how to repair or upgrade it later if you need to.
I'd be a lot more worried about the fact that you have other people living in the same house, sharing utilities than I would be about heat signatures. If the people in your house dont care that youre growing, then they likely wouldnt mind a lsight increase in electricity usage, especially if youre willing to pony up the $$ to cover the difference. Since youre evidently trying to hide it from people within the same house, I would suggest that you simply dont do it at all. Obviously not what you want to hear, but still worth noting.
I have a dealzer cash crop 6 and must admit my only regret about it is buying the 2ftr n not the 3 , I like you live with other people and as far as noticeability unless I point it out no one ever asks about the cab. I also added 2 additional powerstrips totaling 10 fixtures and went with 33w cfls instead of the 23w they send you. A scrog net was also added( got stoned and wanted to try scrog on my next run in it but couldn't find netting small enough so I got a spool of kite string and made my own lol) don't listen to these people on here bro , you gotta do what works for you. If its your first time like it was mine this is a good start to learn the craft with until you become more knowledgable of what your doing. Oh and stealthyhydroponics sells the same box for $200 less then dealzer does , that's where I got mine. Cheers
No the cops wont be able to see a heat sig, or care for something that small but if they do stumble apon your grow, they will arrest you for spending money on the worst grow rip off on the internet. Send that crap back and do it right.
growing weed in the same house as others live and keep it from them is going to very hard to do. are these other people your parents perhaps?
