Heat Problem

  1. High all,

I am currently growing 10 plants in my attic in soil.
I was using a 155w compact floro for my grow as the plants have been vegging for around 3 weeks.
I maintain a humidity of 60% and a temperature of 23 degrees celcius with this floro.
My 600w hps has just arrived in the post and I put it up last night.
I went up into my attic this morning and the humidity has dropped to around 40% and the temperature is around 28+ degrees celcius. This light is causing big problems and I have another one to go up aswell!!!.

Can anyone suggest any ways to cool down this HPS light? and correct the humidity?

    Thanks,

    mallett

  2. i grow in the attic with 3 600 hps u will need an air conditioner in there mate try to get one with 10000btu, homebase for 150 pound the thermostat will keep the temp.

  3. High there,

I have bought an ac unit from b&q (10,000 BTU) but my temps are still around 28 degrees celcius. I've also got an oscillating fan blowing directly onto the HPS - Maybe my ac unit is faulty ?

  4. 30degrees is your cut off point if u are below that u are ok, u should also put an extraction fran and inlet fan to change the stagnant air in there this will also help a lot with the temperatures and the health of the plant
    good luck

  5. you need ventilation of course, use fans, also a humidifier can help with your humidity problem

  6. What happens when the temperature gets above 85? My room gets up to 93 in the middle of the day, probably 4-6 hours, so I have my lights off then, when the lights come back on the room is about 85 and drops to about 75 through the night. I have two oscilating fans running constantly, an exhaust fan that kicks on at 90 degrees, and a fan on my hood that runs whenever the light is on. Is there going to be a problem if I do not get an AC?

  7. would a humidifier help lower temps at all seeing as my humidity is only at 15%?
If so what key features should i look out for when buying a humidifier?

    Peace,

    mallett
