Heart issues

  1. I'm going to die soon.

I have had discomfort in my chest that even radiates down my arm. I've been to the doc and they always say nothing is wrong.

Yesterday when I took a stimulant medication, it got worse. Today is the same. I post because right now my chest has both a heavy pressure and sharp stabbing feeling. It makes it very hard to breathe. I also have an odd headache that makes me a little dizzy

I feel like I will drop dead at any moment but I know I will just be told nothing is wrong if I seek help. I actually did this a few weeks ago.

    Will advil or aleave help?

  2. It can't hurt I would take one

My dad just had the same thing happen to him. He would get tired easily and he would have chest and arm pains and nobody could tell him what was wrong. He even went to the hospital twice because he thought he was having a heart attack.

Idk how the found them but some of his arteries were pretty clogged like over 80%. Since they found them he's had 3 stints put in and is on medicine and he feels much better.

Idk it doesn't sound good I really hope you're ok man

  3. What sort of tests did they do at the doctor's? X-ray? MRI? Unless the guy just patted you on the shoulder and said you're crazy, then I'd trust them.

I know what you mean about a sharp pain that makes it tough to breathe deeply, but it always passes if I give a hearty cough or stretch my arms out over my head.

If you need something to help with the pain, go ahead and ask the doctor. But I have to believe when a patient comes in complaining of chest pains they take it seriously and do their best to check it out. Maybe you should ask for some kind of anxiety pill just so you can relax and hopefully focus on other things so it's not weighing on your mind.

  4. Co-Q10
    Astaxanthin
    Fish Oil

All of these are good for the heart, consider supplementing them now. If you take any blood thinning medication, I wouldn't suggest taking any of them.

The most that was ever done was the routine hooking me up to a heart monitor when I went to a fire station for help. It gets that bad and it's like that now.

Everyone else seemed to shrug it off. They just gave me suggestions and sent me on my way.

  6. Hope to continue to see more posts from you.

  7. Stimulant medication probably isn't a good idea if you're worried about your heart

  8. sounds like a case for Dr. House. sorry bout ur discomfort, id say seek other medical opinions

  9. In that case I'd go to the doctor's and tell them you'd feel a lot better if they could run a few tests. That's what they're there for. If it's not going away and it's really freaking you out, there's no reason not to go.

I hope everything turns out okay and you feel better.

That's not always the case especially if you go to the er.

They see so many people a day they really don't care as much about all of them as they should all the time I'm sure and its only human I get it but it still sucks.

They usually just do routine tests and give general remedies and hope they work

  11. If you are having pain in your heart/chest, you should avoid stimulants.
They only increase your heart rate which in turn places more stress on your heart.

Try eating some heart-healthy foods, drink plenty of water so you know it isn't dehydration cramps, and smoke a bowl and get plenty of rest tonight.

As far as meds like Advil or Aleve, I would avoid them.
I try my darndest to avoid such medications in my day to day, as they put unnecessary stress on the liver, but I cannot predict how those medications will interact with your chest pain.

Aspirin will be your best bet for the immediate moment. As soon as you can though go take an EKG, which is about $20. This will point out most problems, and if needed you can go for the next test's which would be a stress test and an echo-cardiogram.

I actually came back abnormal on my EKG and echo-cardiogram and had left chest/arm pain, but went for an MRI and had a holter on and my MRI came back 100% fine. I still don't know why my first tests came back abnormal though.

What I think happened is I did have a little pain in that area for whatever reason, and it worsened as my mind got stuck on it. My pain was real, but I was causing it.

Obviously avoid any stimulant for the moment (cigarettes and coffee included), until you are assured you don't have any problems. Marijuana personally made me feel better despite raising my heart rate, probably because it lowered my blood pressure that was high from anxiety.

  13. Make an appointment to see your family doctor then. Get an appointment so you can have some time to discuss it. Maybe they'll refer him to a specialist. I get that doctors, especially in the ER, see a lot of people, but they're the best at what they do. In this age of medication commercials on TV and WebMD people get paranoid about their health and think that they can do the research on their own, but at a certain point you have to have some faith in the medical profession. When you say "chest pains" that should make the doctor stop and say "Hey, this might be serious."

  14. Honestly shroom, it sounds like you're a little paranoid about the way your body is functioning. I saw your other thread on ADHD meds making you lose weight and my advice would be STOP THE STIMULANTS!

I went through the same shit about two years ago when I was on dexmethylphenidate (this is medical info, not drug abuse) and as soon as I stopped everything got better.

I was experiencing the works. Chest pain, chest pressure, joint pain, neck pain and even testicle pain. I was convinced it had nothing to do with the meds because Focalin was such a safe prescription. I went to 4 doctors, had ultrasounds, blood tests, everything but nothing came out wrong.

I'm still not sure what caused the pain, but I do know that stopping the stims fixed it. If you're not in college or don't have a demanding job, then you might not need any ADHD meds at all.

As for now, Advil won't do much except thin out your blood and improve your circulation. Just try stopping your meds and see how you feel after a couple days.

    Good luck bro!

  15. Alright Woody Allen, calm down.... could be your lungs, or very likely something going on with your digestive system. Are you over 50? If a doc thinks something is wrong with the ticker, he'll do a EKG. Also taking the stimulant might upset your stomach which might explain the discomfort after taking the medication. But what do I know? Seriously, what do I know? Nothing.

  16. Get an EKG I had a cousin who was having chest pains and the docters wrote it off as mental a few weeks later he died it was Gould that he had stage 3 heart block if they had given him a EKG they probably could of treated it and he'd still be alive I don't want to see you go mushroom

  17. GO TO YOUR DOCTOR AND ASK FOR A STRESS TEST
This will tell them what problems there my be. It will show the amount of blood flow through your arteries and veins (one of these). Also a sonogram of the heart will help rule out any heart disease.
Could be anything at this point, do not let it worry you until you get tested because just thinking about it will drive your heartrate wild
I know I went through it. I was just having extra heart beats nothing at all so they said.
GOOD LUCK dont worry be happy now.
It could be Aleins just f-ing with ya,

  18. Low dosage aspirin for now. Go to a general doctor and request a stress test, and an ultrasound on your heart,do the whole nine, cholesterol, blood pressure.

My doctor actually put me on a low dose aspirin regimen daily. Thins the blood to avoid stroke.

  19. Did you have this test, and, if so, what were the results?
    If not, go have one.:)

    Troponins: The Test

(along with the whole nine yards physical, as everyone suggested)

Was the feeling the same as when you took too much of those caffine pills? My girlfriend explains when taking her stim rx that her arms n legs and chest, depending, feel as if its like sore/ numbish and painful,Chest sometimes a peircing feeling on deep breaths and some people she works with told her that it could be her arteries clogging (even tho is seems insanely young for that) and poor circulation, Excersise and the above medical procedures shold help you figure it all out right?
