Healthy Edibles?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by CaptainCupcake, Feb 7, 2011.

  1. I'm sick of seeing rice krispy treats and peanut butter cups and brownies.

I like to eat healthy; I have one day out of the week that I eat whatever the hell I want but for the rest of my days I'm only allowed 1,200 calories.

(I'm super little and have a slow metabolism. Sucks balls. Anyways.)

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas or (better yet) recipes for healthy/relatively healthy edibles? I can't do oil.

I was thinking about some sort of meat and vegetable stir fry with cannabis in a vinaigrette sauce, but I'm not sure how to do anything or even what to do, I'm such a newb it's ridiculous. Halp meh pwease!

  2. Seeing as how THC works best with Higher Fat content the odds of getting a potent/ healthy edible are pretty slim.

  3. check out wildwill's glycerin tincture. Its not fat, its lower calories than other methods, and works great.

  4. There's tons of healthy meals you can incorporate cannabis into, just look at this Thread here.

    Ganja Oil Bread Dip
    Grower's Guacamole
    Pleasin' Pot Pesto
    Ganja Tea and "Mother's Milk"
    Sauteed Fruit
Brownie Mary's Hemp Seed Salad Dressing
    Tincture of Cannabis

  5. There was a recipe posted here some time ago that seemed like a very quick and easy canna-oil recipe. Basically involved infusing weed with olive oil.

Although you gotta watch your carbs, I always wanted to try making some EVOO-based canna-oil and then add the dipping spices and serve with some fresh hot bread. That would be fairly healthy, or at least better than the usual krispy treats.

  6. if you make canna-oil you can put it into anything you want, i know the oil itsef isnt healthy, but if you put ontop of a whole grain pasta or anything else you could think of it would work great, and be healthy because a small amount of oil isnt too bad

  7. There are several alcohol and oil/fat-free methods of making up healthier edible alternatives.

Someone has already mentioned glycerin, it's safer for diabetics because it only has a negligible effect on insulin and blood sugar. That can make you a good, but sweet tasting tincture than can be applied to anything that needs sweetening (tea... a glazed and seasoned ham or veggies, anyone?).

    Citric acid and vinegars can also break down your glandular material for consumption, but you need much higher concentrations than you can get by simply squeezing a lemon :) Fortunately, finding citric acid powder on the net is easy;

    you'll need:

    - powdered citric acid
    - hash or herb
    - mortar & pestle
    - small amount of water (or better vinegar, or even better, high proof alcohol)
    - foil

In a mortar and pestle, make the citric acid powder into a paste, but not quite a liquid, using your water, vinegar or alcohol. Usually you'll want to use slightly more powder than you have canna, when making larger batches it's easier to get away with less citric acid.
Now add your herb or hash, and begin grinding and processing for 4 - 5 minutes, be smooth but firm as you do it. If you have a decent mortar, you can then set it in the oven at 200f, covered in aluminum foil, and allow the heat to do the rest of the work for you for 30 minutes (add a little more liquid if it's become too pasty, you want it to be a little runny at this time). If you're wary of your mortar shattering, pour and scrape the mixture into a small oven-safe dish, cover it with foil and proceed.

After allowing it to cool fully, open the foil, you can then either strain it and use just the resulting liquid (when using bud), or use it all in your recipe.

It's great in marinades with chicken, and fish, I recommend towel-drying your meats first so they absorb that much more liquid during the marinade, or you can choose to use it for making drinks, like mixed cocktails, or simple juice :)
