Headed toward a super strain?

  1. Browsing seeds and everything is 'this' crossed with 'that'. And when you look up the parents they are almost always the same, crosses and more crosses. For example try finding a strain that doesn't have at least some kind of purple in it. Even Northern Lights as long as it's been around is a cross. I'm just wondering if we're getting close to maybe a few "Super-Strains". Where like 'This' is the Ultimate Sativa, and then 'This' is the ultimate Indica sort of thing. Would have to be a few Ultimate hybrids in there too. Sooner or later everything is bound to be related somehow with the crazy genetics going around. This grow was a Gelato. I like Gelato, that's why I ordered them. The gelato I remember smoking was green/orange hairs. The gelato I grew is purple as fuck, lol. One had the orange hairs, the others had brownish. Not complaining, all quality, but not really stable genetics yet, all 4 look different, ending different times. My next grow is an even newer breed Barney's Farm Mimosa Evo. Pics look gorgeous, but who knows what the end product will look like. Any thoughts? Will we have a 'Super Strain' in a few years?

Unfortunately, a lot of modern cannabis seed-selling is mixing of the same inbred gene pool that's been around for the last few decades. No super-hybrid is due just because people have been breeding hybrids together.

Check out breeders that trend towards inbred landrace genetics and their crosses. I like Ace Seeds a lot. If I had been aware of Cannabiogen (CBG) before Charlie Garcia, the man behind their genetic line-up, left, I would've bought some of theirs. I've heard quality is questionable since CBG was acquired by someone else. There are others around that have magic in their beans.

From Ace, I highly recommend Bangi Haze (this strain has good history with Charlie from CBG and Dubi from Ace). I've really enjoyed the one Zamaldelica and the one Purple Haze x Malawi that I've grown. The Bangi is my go-to for morning flower. I like the euphoria compared to the more clear Zam. I find the Zam to mellow a bit more than I'd like after a while, but the Bangi is super up for hours, even after the euphoria wears off. The PHxM is real clear and smells nicely of incense and wood oil. I think I'll pop a Haze x Kali China for my next long flowering strain because the smell is supposed to be stronger of incense and have more haze effect. I'm currently flowering their Malawi x Pakistan Chitral Kush and their Bubba Hash (Bubba Kush x Hashplant). I have lots of others in my fridge.

I like Ace because they're real transparent with their breeding and genetics. They post the entire lineage and history of their strains elsewhere online, and they present the most current information for each strain on their website. They respond to emails quickly and in detail, and they're happy to provide advice based on desired effect, flower appearance and flowering time.
