Hey everyone this is the first time I will be growing in a tent. I've only got two grows under my belt and they were poopy cfl first attempts lol. I'm not trying to trash talk cfl grows because they can work when you try I just feel at this point I am in a position to make a move. I am excited to rely upon myself to provide quality bud for myself. I realized if I am going to do this I want to do it right so I have done a lot of research but you can never stop learning. There are so many amazing growers on this site and I want to thank everyone for the information on these forums. I'm not sure if this is overkill since I am still a newb but I figure better to buy it once and maybe start off slow until I learn how to run the tent. Anyway on to the good stuff… My plans: 48"x48"x80" secret jardin dark room II… I've read some pretty good reviews about these tents 600 watt apollo horticulture dimmable ballast I'm considering buying better bulbs than the ones that come with this kit... the hps is 86,000 lumens at 2,000 kelvin and the mh is 61,000 lumens at 6500 kelvin... The mh is perfect spectrum from my research but I plan on using my small cab now to house a mom or two and vegging so they would only be under there a couple weeks before the switch… But it's the hps that worries me because the kelvin recommended for flowering is 2700 6" 400 cfm fan... Plan on going with insulated ducting for noise control… I'm not sure if I want to build a carbon filter or just buy one. I will also put one maybe two oscillating fans but that depends on the temps.. And I can't forget about the thermometer.. I already have a hanna ph meter Here's the plan seems like a basic tent set up… After looking at a lot of threads I think that this is the way the ventilation should be set up any tips appreciated though as my experience is with computer fans lol… The tents going to be in the basement and I am going to use some spare wood to put over the window down there I saw a tutorial on how to set it up for the exhaust. I might dip into the ac vents for the house and run some duct to the intake vent not sure if that will be necessary as it stays in the mid 60's downstairs but with the hps I'm not sure. Thanks for looking at this and I appreciate any criticism or comments. Happy toking
Only issue i see (and it might not be an issue for you) is the source and exit of your exhaust. If your fresh air supply is coming from your home then you would want to exhaust it back into your home, and vise versa, Outside to outside. Only reason being that it is not going to be pumping all the air, that your HVAC system works so hard to keep at a comfy temp, back outside. Essentially costing you money, more than you might think. Other than that, im super jealous that you have a 60 ish degree basement to keep everything in. Im currently trying to find a simpler solution to my ventilation situation.
wow it just hit me landlord has been bitchin that the air conditioner just cant keep up this year, im using a very similar, almost exact same and just rippin the air outside using a massive fan, no doubt that's why the air conditioner isnt keeping up.... lmfao fuck
Thanks for the response hadn't thought about the venting from that stand point. I ordered my supplies today so I am just going to have to run some temp tests and figure out what the best and most efficient way is. Last night I set up a thermostat downstairs and from 7 pm to 7 am the temps fluctuated between 63-66 F so I hopefully won't have to dip into the a/c. My fear with just pumping the air back into the house is rising the ambient temps... Decisions decisions...
Will do. Should be here by the end of this week and I will do some temp tests and post the results since were in a similar situation. I'm ganna check out your journal here in a few Today was pretty nice here but it's been in the high 80's the past week or so.
