The Hawaiian senate passed a bill to reduce penalties for position of marijuana. Now it just needs to pass the house and get signed into law by the governor, I'm fairly certain it will pass most of the positions here including the governor has said they support medical marijuana and dispensaries. http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/hawaiinews/20110205_2_panels_pass_pakalolo_bill.html http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2011/lists/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=SB&billnumber=58 There's also a bill to allow dispenser's in Hawaii, as of now I believe you have to grow your own plants. It to be discussed in the senate Tuesday on the 8th. http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2011/lists/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=SB&billnumber=1460 I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk about this, there's a bunch of threads saying so and so state is considering introducing a bill to maybe reduce penalties on position, but when Hawaii not only introduces but passes the first part of a decrim law, there's almost no news or talk about it here, the same with the dispensary bill, which would allow full dispensary operation in the state, and I believe the only place a saw any mention of this saw on normal. It just seem weird no one mentioned Hawaii but everyone instantly knows when any other state even mentions they may think about doing a mj related bill.
SB58 has passed, and is being sceduled to go to the house for voteing. SB58 will "Increases the amount of cannabis that constitutes an adequate supply by allowing a qualifying patient to possess 10 cannabis plants and 5 ounces of cannabis at any given time. Makes identification of the site where cannabis is grown confidential. Prohibits the department of public safety from requiring that a certifying physician be the patient's primary care physician. Prohibits certifying physicians from naming or describing a patient's particular debilitating condition. Increases the permissible ratio of patients to caregivers by allowing a caregiver to grow cannabis for no more than 4 patients."
hawaii is going to be covered in marijuana. people are going to be growing hellas outside everywhere.
I've never been to any other state but from my stoner friends IV hear Hawaii has some of the most relaxed pot enforcement in any state maybe except Cali. It's probably because everyone here knows each other so, oh so and so cop is my fiends aunty, or my calabash (basically adopted by friends family as a member) cousin.......that and I know a bunch of cops whose family's deals. again in never been off island long enough to see if its different there, but in general the whole marijuana thing here is really really chill, you don't really get dirty looks if you talk about it and truthfully I'm almost certain half the people here are smoking it. If you do talk about it your more likely to get stories of "oh this one time I was so high I" instead of a lecture on drugs. hell the majority of the kids in Hawaii were the Rasta colors, driveling thru Kailua there were at least 3 houses on the street with the red, green and yellow lights during xmas, the Hawaiian community seems to have high jacked the colors and pasted it on everything, its everywhere, if I didn't know better I would have the Rasta flag was Hawaii's flag. But I guess this is better than ultra conservativeness on the subject here. and then there's the Rasta wanbes, I mean there's a few who actually want the religion aspect of it but the vast majority of them just use it as an excuse to use ganja, or to flaunt it at school. Don't get me wrong I hate organized religions but Rasta's have to be at the bottom on that list, it's just there's just so many posers who are obviously using it only for the weed. It just looks so fake to me. And again I fully support the legalization of it and most of my friends are deep in the culture, hell I smoke once in a while, but when I see all my college classmates and these high school/middle school kids trying to act Rasta, trying to talk with the Jamaican accent and such it makes me stop and all I can think is “god stupid stoners, this is what makes the whole movement look bad to people on the outside†it's like all the white kids (some were Hawaiian too) at school who tried to be gangsta, trying to rap when they can't, calling them self's thugs/gangsters when most of them were military brats from the base down the street. That whole posing crap just pisses me off so much whether there wanta be Rasta's, wanta be gangsters, people from the mainland trying to speak pigeon it all ……lol went off into a rant there. Oh well I've made my opinion known. Is it just here or is this common in other states? The spamming of the Rasta stuff that is
