Have you had your crop stolen before?

Some back story.....

I just had a new neighbor move in right next door. I also found out he was recently busted growing 1000 plants and stealing power and causing a neighborhood electrical fire in another city. If he had no problem hopping a fence to steal power, whats to stop him from ripping my greenhouse grow?

Im only paranoid cuz last night, my little dog was barking like crazy at the fence. I walked over and I caught him hanging out by the fence listening to me and my brother talk about my girls (I always try to talk in hush tones when Im outside tending to my girls). He went inside. A little while later, I looked up at his window and noticed him peeking thru the blinds. I knew he was planing on stealing my girls.

I immediately popped a tent and camped out by my greenhouse last night waiting for this gangster to hop the fence. I plan on leaving the tent outside from now on, even if I dont sleep in it each night.

Now here is my question, for those of you who have your grow ripped off, or know of someone who was ripped off, was it done at night, or when no one was home?

 

Im in a residential area. The greenhouse is 10 feet from my house, but also 10 feet from his house.

Most general robberies happen when the resident(s) aren't home, I know this.

But I also read/hear about people stealing crops at night. That's why I'm just trying to find out when, specifically pot grows, get stolen. Do I just make sure someone is always home, or do I invest in some night time security as added protection?

Im looking into security as we speak. It was always on my to do list, but now its on the top of my list.

I cant use motion lights, I dont want cats turning on the lights all night and messing with my plants flowering dark period.

 

I could, I know he doesnt want trouble cuz he was just arrested. But whats to stop him from telling his friends, and having his friends come and steal my shit.

If he stole power from his previous neighbors, I doubt he will be scared of a sign, a web cam wont work unless I call the cops and show them the footage. THAT aint gonna happen.

He used to grow, growers see something and right away know whats up. Plus he is a renter, he burned down the last house so I dont think he cares what I do to that house.

As I mentioned before, my dog is the one who alerted me about him.


When I posted this, I wasn't trying to get help on how to deal with him. I was just trying to see when people get ripped off. But thanks everyone for suggestions!

If I wanted to be a serious dick, I could call the owner of the house (who my family knows) and tell them their renter burned down a house in another city and is on the run. I wont do that cuz there are little kids who live in that house too. Plus I already promised my parents that I would not confront him. They are begging me not to start drama. My family's safety comes first, so I will honor that. They know how violent I get when provoked.

I need to add security for all the people I DONT KNOW that know about my shit. Even family members. I know that sucks to say, but I need protection from people stealing right under my nose.

So I will go with motion sensors that trigger an alarm in my home. I will still leave out the tent and make that my own "dont come here" deterrent.

Put the sensor in my greenhouse and then hook up a lamp and boombox next to the window that is adjacent to the GH. Light goes on, boombox starts blasting. I will be outside in less than 30 seconds with my bat.

 

Your making me rethink my plan. This is what I need, DIY security. Stop them from even entering the yard!

 

I know where they have a store nearby. HUGE place. I will look into it.
