Hashish Canna-Butter?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by leastunhappy, Aug 19, 2019.

  1. Good Morning lovely people!

If any experts can overview my process on my cannabutter and possibly offer some feedback that would be awesome.

I melted 500g of unsalted butter in a slow-cooker with some filtered water, and chopped up 10grams of hashish and left to simmer for 10 hours.

I then let the butter solidify, and removed it from the water. I scraped off the brown matter from the bottom of the butter, and repeated until i was left with smooth consistent in colour butter.

I have used this butter in all sorts of edible recipes which include baking it in the oven. Am I correct in saying just infusing the hash with the butter for 10 hours doesn't decarboxylate the cannabis, it is the baking process when making the brownies in the oven which de-carbs? Or is the hashish already decarbed when made into block form?

Any advice on this process would be greatly appreciated.

    Have a great day!

  2. Hash has to be decarbed for an edible. 240F for 40 minutes. It's anybody's guess whether your decarb was sufficient. Were you satisfied with your butter and it's potency? If so, your methods of slow cooking worked. Good luck.

  3. Long simmering of herb tends to degrade thc over the long time involved.
Better is to decarb first, using Joker's recommendation, then add some lecithin and heat for infusion.
Butter can be susceptible to scorching, so the excellent infusion method of 220 F for 20-60 min might burn it.

  5. Thanks! Is it possible the hashish has been decarbed already? If so, is it possible to over-decarb?
So you're saying to decarb the hashish in the oven, and then add the butter and lecithin, and infuse for 20-60 min?

    Thank you!

  6. It's possible your slow cooking decarbed your hashish. Yes, you can over decarb and degrade the THC. I'd do it the way you describe, but I would not strain the hashish from the butter.

  7. Hash isn't usually already decarbed.
You should consider BrassNwood's method. Many people with a history of edible failures have successfully used it.
But the 20-60 min infusion with lecithin works about as well.
