  1. Just curious how the slim star 4ft 8 bulb system compares with quantum 4ft 8 lamps? I know its cheaper and yet the specs are identical.in fact they look the same..so what the rela deal?? Anyone grow with them?

  2. i have gotten quite a bit of stuff with htg...its good gear..not top of the line...prices are great..customer service is good..i got a 2bulb ho t-5 from them and it rocks..i say their pretty good:smoke:

  3. I have grown with floro's and once i started with MH, THERE IS NO COMPARISON!

Floros cost less and make the same heat but the grow is day and night different.

The 400w MH does better than my outdoor grow does (mind you I don't get full sun for more than 3 hrs a day)

Floros are, IMO, not worth it!

  4. well..if your switchin' gear i just bought a 400hps/mh digital with cool tube reflector and hps and mh bullbs for 209 with ship...that would be my suggestion for a 1 light does it all low temp badass..not much more that the t-5 your lookin' at..but would hafta get fan for cool tube ta worlk:smoke:

  5. well what I was thinking was getting two of these 8 lamp units...to accumulate wattage near a 1000 watt mh and median lumens (80,000)...but i figures since this is overall wide-spread light right over top of plants rather than 1 source then this could possibly beg even better than 1000 watt mh. vegged with 1000 watt mh last grow and now am flowering with same light...so i was looking for other alternative without have buy the same set up...including magnum xxxl hood, bulb ballast and inline fan. need low heat in veg room

  6. You didn't mention that "I grow with a 1000K" part!

I have done floros a lot. On top, on the sides, hanging verticle between the plants.
You name it I have tried it!

Floros produce a different kind of plant, than MH.

I regret not going to MH sooner!

Floro plants are much thinner and more spindly. I have bombarded plants with 6000 lumens per sq ft, and they never grow anything like a MH.

I switched my 4ft floro setup to a single 400w MH and like I said, I regret not doing it sooner.

  7. interesting

  8. The first grow did produce some very tights bushy plants, but the stoutness made them very hard to train...so maybe this with 16 lamps...I may get the needed length I need to lst train properly, while making a nice veg as well. is there any down fall once I switch to flowering under 1000 watt hps?

  9. I LST my grows and i do find it a bit more challenging with the tighter growth but I start early when they are easy to bend over.

It's kind of like surgery sometimes though

  10. I don't know..maybe it is just me...because it was my first time (virgin)...lol...but this time Ill start earlier...when do you suggest STARTING?

  11. I start to train as soon as i see the new growth along the main stem, where an older leaf has grown first. Probably 2-3 weeks in. I go to flower at 4 weeks.
When I bend it over, these new growth areas turn upward and I have a bunch of new colas competing for top bud position.
the stalks are amazingly pliable until you bend it for the first time, then it fattens up pretty quick and is essentially frozen in the bent over state.

  12. koo. thanks....I was thinking of training in the circle spectrum I see all over the net. consider I am using 10 in pots..how long u think it will take? Pic below..

They are kinda stretchy now considering barely put them under the t5 just a day ago.
