has anyone tried using a hot rock instead of a lighter with a pipe?

    Hey, I noticed that I had a small pointy stone that fits perfectly in my bowl, so I tried heating it and pressing it on top of my weed and it worked like a small vape. The only problem is that you have to keep reheating the stone.

    Anyone else tried this?

    PS This is my first post here so I'll introduce myself also. I'm a 20 year old female student in Houston, been smoking on and off since I was 17.

    I used a pair of tweezers. Held it over the flame for about 30 seconds, then put the stone in my pipe with a bit of weed. The weed heated up without burning, but I'm impatient so I just ended up using my lighter after a while, haha.

    Probably not the smartest of things to do with everything that could go wrong, and as you said it was easily beat by just wanting to smoke and using a lighter.

    What is everything that could go wrong?

    I like this idea, I might try it, out just use a candle to heat up the rock?

    they sell these glass rods at the headshop around the corner that work the same way. its 40 bucks for 2 of them. seems like a waste of money but i have seen a bunch of people with them.

    Yep, that's the right kind. Put it in your bowl and touch your lighter to it and breath in. You get so much higher than you do from smoking plain weed!


    The glass rods are called glow rods. They work really well if you have a torch lighter. only like 15 bucks too. I had one for a couple weeks, used it mostly for snaps in my bong with a button-bowl. It can really bring out flavors in different nugs, and the smoke smells different too. I broke it being stupid, but it was fun while I had it. I woulda gotten a new one, but it was one of those novelty things that you do for a few weeks and it looses it's appeal. It does the same thing as a hakko, just not as well.

    Could scratch the glass with the right circumstances, get bits of rock in your weed/throat/mouth, burn yourself easily, get the rock stuck, knock something over (moving the rock from the bowl to a candle to the bowl, quite a trip). Not worth it imo.
