Has anyone tried This ? Homemade CO2

  1. I was looking at a possible CO2 setup for my small room and they are so expensive. I already know about these buckets with yeast and sugared water. CO2 is big in the paintball market The tanks and guns are all over because a lot of people lost interest and have it laying around. A 24oz tank is good for about 1000 shots. I would imagine that the amount of CO2 expelled is considerable compared to a yeast bucket. What if a guy took the gun apart and just use the cannister connector and trigger assembly. Take a small motor with an eliptical cam mounted on it. Mount the cam inside the trigger. Using a motor that turns very very slowly at say 1 or 2 rph. Cam rotates and pulls trigger . I'm sure its treaded where the barrel connects. Connect hosing and have holes in the hose at each plant location. I know my son has one of these paintball guns that a buddy of his had thrown away. With a tank only costing a couple dollars. I would estimate this is buildable for under ten dollars. What do you guys think ?

  2. Sound isn't an issue? Give it a try and post if it works!

  3. you can also get something called a remote its for paintball. its the co2 can hooked up to this hose and you can turn the co2 up as much as u want and as little as possible.
makes very little noise just a little hiss. it wont allow me to post the link to it so if you want go to 888paintball .com and in the top right corner it will say search products type in remote. 35$ but it will work

  4. Actually sound isn't an issue..........sound is good for plants. Take a test done on Mythbusters. They took three greenhouses that were equal in every way. One is a control group. Two was talked to 24 hours a day for a month. The third was played hard rock music for 24 hours a day. They were fed by an automatic watering system. After a month they removed all plants and weighed the plant matter. The one that received rock music was almost 50% heavier. The myth was if you talk to your plants do they grow better. It was busted but the test did show that aggressive sound was good for plants. Similiar test done at UW in 1982. Same result. I think they confused the myth. The idea is if you talk to your plants the exhaled CO2 is good for it.

    I too ramble.

Thanks for the thoughts. I will check on that remote. I refuse to spend a fortune on CO2. If I can put something together I will post. I think the sound won't be as loud without the projectile.
