Harvesting questions... sticky situation

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by OrleansOttawa, Sep 27, 2011.

  1. I have a little gureilla grow going on, 4 big ones. They turned out a lot bigger and nicer then I expected.

They are pretty much ready to go, the hairs are probably about 50% red. I can't wait any longer I saw a police helicopter heading in the direction of where my plants are. And im scared of rippers.

    My questions:

    1. Can I peel all the branches off the main stem to make it easy to transport to trimming location? Or is it better if I chop the plant at the bottom and take the whole plant?

    2. I have a spot to trim it but can't dry it there. I was wondering if I could dry it outdoors in a tent or a makeshift plywood structure with the ends not covered. Any tips on drying outdoors?

    3. After trimming is done, is it crucial the buds stay on the branches to dry or could I take JUST the bud and dry it on a screen or something?

  2. well what i do is take the branches off the main stem and hang them for 4 days.then cut the buds off and dry more on a screen

  3. You can cut off each branch, and just place it into a bag and just pile them up. Just make sure to leave about a 1/2" of stem at the end of each branch or branch segment so it's easier to hang for drying.

I would recommend when you're there to quickly pick off each fan leaf so it's more manageable, you could also bring clippers and give them a quick rudimentary shave of any foliage that has no trichomes.

As for drying outdoor, anything will do that has relatively low RH and a moderate amount of fresh air exchange, and also darkness.

You can trim the buds any way you want, some people cut off each nug on a large cola, some people like to leave the cola intact because of how great they look. It requires more drying because of the stems and the surface area for fresh air.
