It looks like I may be harvesting my first grow in a couple of weeks or so. I have a couple of questions that I could use your opinions on. Can I just chop down the plant and hang it, or should I chop off each shoot (node) seperately and hang them seperately? Is it better/easier to manicure before or after drying? I plan on heading over to Target or someplace like it maybe to see if they have any kind of canning jars, or sealable glass containers for curing. Does anyone know for sure what stores might carry what I am looking for? Does it matter if the curing containers are glass or plastic? Has anyone used both and noticed a difference? Thanks...
I chop each node/branch and hang them individually that way they are nice and spread out so they will dry. Manicure the plant before you hang it for the same drying reason. Also, when it is wet the hairs and THC wont fall off as easily as when dried. Every grain of THC that falls off reduces overall potency.
I would remove all leaf before drying, there's a video that show's this Dutch grower using a clipping device that connects to your vacuum and well it just removes the leaf and not the bud, this guy wasn't cautious about it either was very aggressive and well he had over forty plants to trim so the device cut the time in half verses using scissors, go to Limewire.com type in the search Cannabis Cultivation and you'll get all kinds of video's to watch, there's one video that's a time lapse of the plants growing which is quite interesting (check it out) it's quite helpful. Yes you can use plastic tupperware but I like Mason jars they can be had at any grocery store or like ya said Target or Wal-mart as well.
