This will be my 3rd harvest, so I'm still kinda new to it I am monitoring my trichs on my plants that are almost finished. Fresh on the plant, I'm at about 80% cloudy, 20% clear, and just a little amber. I cut a 'test' branch and let it dry and I am at 85% cloudy, 10-15% amber, and a trace of clear. Should I factor in the 'carry-over' ripening into my harvest date or just go with the fresh?
You have more experience then me but if you really have a preference about the ratio of cloudy-amber thrics and the effect on the high then i guess you should take the factor in effect.
Stankie, By the looks of the bud you posted earlier, I'd say you're there bro. That's a beautiful flower and something to behold. Whatever trich color you elect to go with I'll assume it will be somewhere between kick ass and super kick ass Good job, chunk
Ya know stankie, just my nickles worth... I always tend to harvest on the cloudy side to clear - about what you've described - and quite frankly I think it's a bit early. I get impatient I think. I lean toward the 'cloudy/clear cerebreal' effect as a preference in an effort to avoid the 'couch lock' and I think, being strain dependent, that at the point of cloudy/clear the trichomes aren't fully developed. IDK for sure but I'm gonna try for a more even split of cloudy/amber this time around and see what happens. For me personally I think the clear trichs don't offer much punch so I'm going to try and be more patient next round and let them ALL cloud up and start to get some color. Like Chunk said it's gonna be good for ya either way by the look of those budZ!
Honestly, I feel as if I've harvested most of my plants too early. Mostly from being 'cloud' blind. I've usually harvested when I see about 10-15% amber, but the smoke has been lacking. My best smoke so far was actually a crummy looking, sativa dom Lemon Skunk from GHS that I left in the closet out of apathy. It looked so bad (got underwatered badly one week, never recovered) that I just left it in there until I needed the room. I think it was a total of 13 weeks of 12/12. Most lemony bud I've ever smelled/tasted.
Thanks for your posts everyone! I am in the don't harvest too soon battle right now. Gonna try to hold on for another week and a half until thanksgiving for 2 of my plants. I can tell the buds are still swelling a little.
