I read long ago that harvesting earlier, before the majority of trichome heads turn amber, results in a more sativa-type high and later is more indica-type. Any truth to that? I have a pure sativa plant and would like it to be as uplifting as possible, with as little body effects as possible.

On a side note, your plant looks like it is locked out or has a waterlogging problem, and has little trichome formation. I would consider resolving these issues before contemplating an early harvest.
Way to early for even an early harvest. If you harvest that now, you might as well just make a salad with it. Few trichomes = few cannabinoids.
Who is smoking it? That's a pretty subjective thing to measure, & do you have anything to compare it against? Wait n see. Many/ most seem to go with what, ? 1/3 amber trichs. I harvested about all grows too early for the 1'st 6 grows or so. (sharp as a bowl of oatmeal)
to clear things up, the pic does not represent the plant today, sorry. The one attached is from today. I wasn't planning to harvest for another 3 weeks or so, figuring on a 75 day bloom cycle.. Basically I simply wanted an answer to the question harvesting later equates/does not equate to a more indica, body stone. I don't understand the chart Trojangrower. It tells me the amount of thc, not anything about the high.
Sativa plants tend not to amber up much if at all and take weeks longer then you think to really finish. 14, 16 18, 20 weeks in flower. The last pure example I let run well into Jan at over 15 feet tall the damn thing never did stop putting on height. Never did show much amber. BNW
harvest all milky. More head high. Harvest mixed 10 % brown all others milky some body stone and head high. Harvest all brown. Less head high mostly body stone. I like my pure indica burnt brown. Then i can smoke it and be locked on the couch brown lazy stoners . Milky active stoners
I still consider myself a newb but some grows they just don't seem to get where you want them (trich color) & the stems just droop the plant if left too long is then prone to mold/mildew etc so keep a close eye on em in the final days. ??? imo
