Harvest Confusion

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Nabber, Sep 27, 2021.

  1. Hi
My plants are well into flowering but this is my first grow and don’t know how long they’ve been in flower. I’m guessing about 6 weeks. I’ve taken some close up photos of the buds on two separate plants. Can anyone take a look and help me out with timing to harvest. If more photos are needed, let me know.
    Thanks for any help

  2. That's a nice start. Probably another 4 to six weeks.

  3. I do 10 weeks actual. It takes plants about 2 weeks from light change to show sex then 8 weeks minimum past that for my preference.
I'd say you need 3 or 4 more weeks but some of that would depend on location. Inside or Out. If outside harvest just before predicted first freeze date.

  4. I’ve moved them inside under lights to finish as I’m in Ontario and the nights are getting quite chilly with a lot of rain lately. I can control the humidity better inside as well. Would finishing indoors slow down or speed up the process? I wish I knew when flowering started but I didn’t pay enough attention with my first grow

  5. It doesnt matter when it started, they are done when there done. Not sure what the move inside will do to how long it actually takes, likely wont affect it much.

  6. 6 to 8 weeks

You can only watch the trichomes and wait. You can tell they are no where near ready from the amount of white pistols. Then the pistols that have changed color haven't started curling. Also the calyx or bud size. As you go through flower the pistols will change then curl in towards the bud. Nearing the end the bud or calyxes will swell. Get a jeweler's loop of at least 60× or microscope. Once most pistols have changed color and curled start looking at trichomes on the calyx or bud. The sugar leaf trichomes and top sites closest to light will ripen faster and will be misleading, Check various locations.

  7. It's not magic, and you don't need a scope. If you're growing to ripe, which you should, there's a distinct change. You will know it when you see it. Trichs work, but after awhile you'll just look at the plant and know.
