  1. Hello, i've done a little searching around ebay and foudn nothing. Wondering if you guys could help me out. I was wondering if they make such a thinga that is like a ahanging wall socket for a light bulb. Where its allready got a cord attached to it then i can plug it into something else..

or does anybody know a SAFE way to make something of the such? I think i'm gonna go with CFL to start with..and not worry about getting a HPS untill I need it as mr. Banker says I cant do so right now. So, i just want to throw about 300-400 watts of CFL into it. Which results in a lot of hanging bulbs...which I will be direclty placing.

  2. well you would need an electrical receptical on your ceiling to do this wouldn't you?

but either way its not good to hang any light from its power cord, find some way to attach it to somthing.
walmart sells a little metal reflector and clamp with a socket for somthing like $6

  3. Yea hardware stores sell them. just a socket with usually six inch leads or "pigtails". just use some wire nuts and lamp cord desired length out on the nuts and throw some electrical tape and your good. thats actually wat i did

  4. they sell reflectors with 15' cords at walmart for like $10, u can take the reflector off if needed

  5. Not all HPS/MH cost big money. If you go to places like Menards or Affordablelighting.com you'll find what is called High Bay lights. I paid $50 for this one brand new. Most are around $65. If you look closely at the photos I converted them to remote ballast units. All I did was take it apart and wire in an extension cord(heavy one) then wired in a plug. I have $52.50 into a brand new HPS and a second MH costing the same. Its a recommendation for when the real ones cost too much bank. If you decide to do something like this, I'll be glad to send full step by step instructions on how to do this. My reflectors cost $6, they are a piece of 12" duct opened up with a $1 computer fan mounted for cooling. Fan run by $2 Walwart 12v. Purchased at electronic surplus or taken from something else in the house running on 12v. I know its not what you were looking for but someday you might want to make the move.

  6. you could just buy a socket with a plug on it, screw your light right to into that. screw a hook into the ceiling and run an extension cord through the hook then you can raise and lower the light(s) with slack from the cord.... pretty easy and then you can just plug that into your timer.

  7. Yeah, well, i'm not finding anything for around the price range that you mentioned for yours, but preferabbly I would like to go with a HPS if the banker will allow it! lol. Thanks for the info though as I find that really helpful. I'll a keep a lookin for some stuff along that line too!

    THANKS

I might holler at you later on if i go through with it as I find what you did quite intruiging and interesting.
