Not related but also not generally true. He isn't traditional Dubstep, and there are many variations, but he is certainly some branch of it. Maybe more of a dubstep-house mix... I mean there are different branches of every Genre, Biggie Smalls sounds absolutely nothing like Kid Cudi but they both produce rap music do they not? Jimi Hendrix sounds nothing like Kings of Leon, does that mean they both cant be of the same Genre?
I'm not hating on skrillex, I have seen him many times and the dude knows how to put on a show, a damn good one. But whenever I hear the words dubstep and skrillex in the same sentence I cringe. There are so many different sub genres stemming from 'edm' I just think its generic to call his tracks dubstep. Sure it might relate, whatever. Too many different opinions on this to have a valid point lol.
In the second video, they are talking about the nyan cat video that lasts 100 hours and how it has 13 million views. Some guy goes, "I feel like you'd need a whole lot of grass to sit through 100 hours of that"
Techno is too broad..there is House, dubstep, trance, hardstyle, electronica, club, drum and bass, etc..literally tooonnssss.
This. They even go as far to call things like, "Alternative DnB" like why cant it just be normal DnB??? I once saw a guy on Youtube say something like, "Skrillex isn't fucking Dubstep, he is electronic trance-step." (Paraphrased but something very similar) Like what the fuck kind of dictionary of techno are you reading dude, what the fuck differentiates them all?
