Had to cut tip 1 foot off both plants

  1. Hello need some advice here.
I got a big Buddha blue cheese and a Nirvana White Widow growing in 5 gallon smart pots using cocoa, using Flora three-part drain to waste expert/advanced formula. I'm using 4- 1500 watt LEDs and 3 - 1000 watt LEDs also have 2-1000 watt HPS and metal halide, but currently I'm only using a 1500 watt LED for each

About a month-and-a-half ago I had surgery, a dual lumbar disc fusion in my lower back. I tried to start flowering the plants right before surgery but as I did i had heat issues when I hooked up the 1000w HPS and room got 105°, it caused heat damage which I had to put them back into veg. By the time they recovered and I recovered from my surgery the plants were too tall for my room to risk putting them to flower. I just attempted to clone the s*** out of each of them but in case the Clones don't take would like to keep the plant around but both are touching the lights better at the maximum height possible.

After taking my cuttings for clones I had no option but to cut the top foot off of each plant. If there's a way that I could keep these trim down to let them flower I would love to so I don't waste all the Newton energy growing up but otherwise as long as the Clones take I really don't care, and am using this as more of a learning / experiment.

I cut them on 45 degree angles right above fan leaves

Truthfully the other limbs are still higher than the top that I would have to trim later or should I trim it all now?

Should I put cloning gel or duck tape or anything on top of the open cut top of the stem so it does not get infection?

Is there anything else I can do to help this?

Wouldn't this allowed the bottom to fill in more and create the other branches to be the Topps now almost like fim'ing?

Is the plant definitely going to die?

  2. It ain’t gonna die I don’t think.. they’re pretty resilient but I would definatley find a way to raise that light if u want to flower them

  3. Can you tie them down a little?

    I don’t think they’re going to die.

  4. No, your plant won't die! I've seen plants cut just above the lowest branches (by rippers) survive and still produce some buds!

The cuts on the stems will dry up naturally- you don't need to do anything to them. If you want to speed the process, put a small fan blowing on them, but it's not really necessary.

About your topping, don't worry about it. The top bud on a plant secrets a hormone that slows the growth of other lower tops. By removing the top bud, you have "set off a war" between the side branches. All of them will be fighting to be the new top bud! As soon as your plants recover from the shock of being topped, expect a growth spurt as the "war" begins! You might try doing some LST to keep the branches a bit lower.
