Had a moment...

  1. So, here in Australia we have very run-of-the-mill cinemas for the larger part.
They release new movies, not really a lot else.

However, we have some smaller, older cinemas around...they have less comfortable seating, they run the new movies a bit late.
The good thing is, they're very cheap - and the way they tend to look, is how cinemas used to look, everything there is a bit like walking into the past.

So we go to see a movie if we're low on cash, or tuesdays they have it even cheaper.

Occasionally, they actually show old films.
Now I know int he states you guys have cinemas that do this on the regular - but here it's pretty hard to find.

So once a month, they've been showing "retro" films.
I couldn't be bothered with "Rocky horror" and "Blues Bros" which were the last two...not that I have anything against them, but I've just not considered them something I'd run along to catch on the big screen.

So...they showed "Back to the Future".
    $5.
Now, I grew up in the 80's - but I was 4 years old when this came out.
I saw both sequels at the cinema but never got a chance at the first one.
So technically I've been waiting 27 years to see this...I had to...

I hadn't seen this film in some time, this could be the first time I've really enjoyed it on all levels. I was also rocking a pretty good stone off a firecracker from about half an hour in.
It was much funnier than I remembered, mainly in terms of the dialogue.
I couldn't remember the "Darth Vader from Vulcan" scene AT ALL.
I remembered the basic plot, but it had actually been long enough so a lot of the film seemed pretty fresh to me.

    Now, here's the "moment".
People were taking their kids to this movie. Little kids. They liked it.
This one kid, maybe 5 years old was right into it, really having a good time and laughing out loud...hell, the whole audience of all ages dug this film.
But yeah, I stopped and thought "Shit...this kid was like the age I would have been when this came out".
I found that really cool, and I now know that I'll be checking out this movie with my kid too.
    Some timeless shit right there.

    Anyways, that's my story.

  2. Amazing movie, I need to get the blu ray collection for my projector
