Guitarists of GC, help me find my new guitar.

  1. So, I've decided I need a new electric guitar, and I'd love some suggestions from like-minded people. I play just about everything, but mostly "clean" setting songs. Right now I have an Ibanez RG 120, and I love it, it's just a bit broken down after years of playing it.

I'm giving myself a limit of 500 bucks, because I know I'd spend too much money on a really nice guitar. So please, suggest me some!

  2. I play ibanez also. have a bass and a guitar.

do you want to get another ibanez?

if you do, i would get new pickups instead of a full body, espec for around 500 since the really good ones run up past a 1000 imo. cus alot have the same body.

  3. Get the cheapest les paul studio you can find, or an american strat. If you look really hard, and find an amazing deal on a used one, you have somewhat of a chance of staying in your price range, and you'll have an amazing guitar.

  4. Depends on the tones your looking for in your clean sound. If you are looking for an all around good guitar for less than 500, I would go with what @mrgoodsmoke suggested, the les paul will sound good, but the start will have more of the mellow tones like your cleaner sounding blues songs, or jimi hendrix for example. If you want something in more of a particular range, maybe some more off the wall types like Rickenbacher, or some of the more random shaped gibsons. They have the firebird, SG, and a few others but they all have different tones due to body construction.

Les paul: usually solid body- deeper tones, more sustain, more expensive but EVERYONE knows what they are so reselling is a breeze.

Fender Strat: Hollow-body, for under 500 you will most likely get a better made foreign strat which isn't bad at all, but still no comparison to the 1000$ american strat. Hollow body won't sustain as long, but you can work on them a lot more, just because you can change so much. \

Either way, any questions you have, I have been playing guitar for 10 years now, so I have lots of knowledge about lots of areas with this.

    hope it helps :smoke:

  5. I'd like to stick to Ibanez, since the guitar I have has been really good to me these past few years, but I'm mostly concerned with just getting a nice guitar for the money.

I'm looking for as diverse of a tone as possible. I mostly play with a bassier clean tone, but I use distortion, and poppier tones as well. Hollow-bodies are something I was looking into, as I really like the sound. What's a really good hollow-body for the price I said?

Les Paul is one everyone uses, so it must be pretty good. Would y'all say one is worth it?

  6. I've had multiple les pauls, and I loved them all. It has an essence to it that you just can't really get from another guitar. The best thing to do is to look on the ibanez site, if you are sure you want to stick with them, pick out a few, and look them up on youtube. Someone will have a video of a review or something.

  7. clean settings eh? what type of stuff do you play?

  8. strat or 355

  9. You could get a nice American special strat for around 500.

  10. If you're going w/ ibanez, get one those Joe Satriani guitars, I think it's called the "js". Those are pretty bad ass.
