for christmas I got an acoustic guitar. taking lessons about once a week how long will it take for me to pick up if I spend a lot of personal time. (i have musical background from playing trumpet for 4 years if that matters)
If you jam live with a drummer, simple stuff you will evolve quicker. It's the brain exercise of trying to tap into the beat and make it stoney. Jam along with CD's, not the song verbatim but your own version, fills, or accompanyment. I give ya a year!
