Hey i was wondering if any Connecticut Growers would have a good guess on when they think the first frost will be this year???? also do u think this product will work to keep the budding process going longer? http://www.burpee.com/shopping/prod...&iSubCat=1714&iProductID=4802&iSubSubCat=1714 dankeschon, Zee_Baron
rofl fly!!! its ok for u out in the sun all year yeh m8 - that blanket is used a lot in the uk by farmers to protect crops from frost. Not sure how it would work for mj as it's more the temperature of the soil that's critical, rather than covering the plant. worth a go tho - rather than losing a crop
Thanks alot mate, i figured it should help at least for a weel or 2 right. That makes sense the UK would use those blankets, maybe they invented them, this is New England, where I am. I'm half Brittish and Half German, Hows Sandy, England like? Ever been there, my old mum is from there. Write back, id like to ask u some questions about england in a different forum if you wouldnt mind, id appreciate it alot, i may be going there for schooling in horticulture in a few years. Thanks mate, -Zee_Baron
? whereabouts is that!? U'll like it here if ur coming to visit = nice place. Some shitty areas too like, same as everywhere - & the unis are top if ur coming to study
Hey Puff Puff Pass, Im in The new haven area, In Branford.Hows abooy you ey??Jk im not Canadian. But i hope thr frost will be in mid october, man it's getting really really cold here at night now, and my babies need at leeeeast 2 more weeks to give anthing real nice u know. so I think im going to ask jesus and god for some help on that one tonight before i sleep, lmao. And Chimera, i hope ur not right! If Upstate NY got a frost last night with the wrong wind stream comming south at night, my babies will be shortlived. Would it still produce buds if i brought it indoors for a week or 2 with good lighting and a small fan u think? That would be nice, tell em what you all are tihnking. THis is clentch time people! Lets get some good herb for our towns and help eachother with good up-to-date news on frosts in CT alright! Dankeschon! -Zee_Baron
It was 37 degrees near waterbury last night, and one plant had pink/purple pistils by me. I'll check her in a few hours.
Oi mate, thast pretty damn cold, I hope ur girl is alright. Im' so nervous, the site i was going to order the warming blanket from is out of action for awhile, and i think that i might get premature buds this year . But do you think if i took it indoors for a week or 2 it would ba alright to keep producing buds? Or would the temperature change screw the process up? -Zee_Baron
http://www.victoryseeds.com/frost/ct.html As promised, frost dates for CT. Last year I had to take my plant inside, I bent it over, and lst'd it in a micro cabinet. It worked out fine, for me. I had one smallish plant, mainly sativa, that I let flower a bit too long hoping to coax more bud from her, and she still rewarded me with the better part of an ounce. How far along are they? What type of plants are you growing? (strain, or just indica/sativa ratio?) and what type of environment could you provide for them? (lighting, space, etc...) Just curious. Also, it should be noted that the farmers almanac says that the first fall frost might be October 10th, round Hartford. BTW last night I got to have the first fire of the season, and it was awfully nice, even though it was only down to about 43 degreees last night.
hey there pyro! Ja, thats good to hear it worked for you when you took them indoors. Just in case i have to, i stay up or get up myself everynight to check for frost so id just take my 2 girls insode if i saw any signs of the frost. Althought after i prayed to god, the weather got warmer, much to my relief. Thats a god sign anyway. One of my girls is a kush, that i have grown the same one of for 3 years now, everytime its a little better too. She is to the point where all the branches have small buds on them, many many hairs, some purple and crystal coated, but they are not developed by any means. The other girl is a pure sative, Amsterdam gold to my best guess. The seed i got in a random sative grab bad and one of them was an amsterdam gold, sure looks like it anyway. Shes a little behind the kush i have, has stronger, more consistant budding, very small buds by now on all branches. If i took them inside id have the space yes, for a week or 2, then id have to get them cuts down and drying, hidden more or less. I have a large light fixture for a light bulb, and actually another fixture nearly identical, a small fan and thats it... Would you suggest that I buy the frost blanket and try to combat the frost or bring my babies inside for a week or 2 to my mismal setup? Thanks alot for the predictions too man, much appreciated. Tell me what you think! -Zee_Baron
I'm just going to wait it out. Its still early in the season, and the warmer weather will certainly help things out. We may have just had a cold snap. If to help your girls, then maybe buy the frost blanket. But do you know how long it will take to get here? They are established, and cannabis is such a hearty plant, i've never had any problems. However, thats just my experience.
yeah the weather is holding quite well and has helped production alot, i hope top wait it out like you now but the blanket will be nice for next year to get a headstart on things u know. best luck, keep in touch, pyro, my fellow CT grower, haha -Zee_Baron
dang here was first frost 5days ago and it killed my plant it was doing very fine and was just 1week from flowering. now i have to smoke only cured leaves and shit, but they rip as hell
I am near worcester and I feel your pain. It looks like I might have to bring em inside to finnish. But that wont be till the first week in october. check out my grow thread. peace wwonka
I checked them a few days ago, and never uploaded the pics. Without further ado, unknown bagseed, and skunk #1 (the smaller of the two.)
Fuck yeah pyro! Thats some beautiful CT smoke growin there. Makes me proud of my homeland. One of mine looks just like your second one pictured, the other has large, curved branches goint upward which are filling in nicely with purple haired buds. Dont you love this time of the year here in CT the most? Something about makes me really happy and peaceful. Keep the pics commin man, im gonna try and steal my girls digi-camera for a day or 2 to get a nice before complete budding shot. -Zee_Baron
I'll be sure to give a dried and cured smoke report/ final weight a few weeks after harvest. And yeah, I do love this time of year; My birthday is tommorow, the weather is very nice, my plants are packing on some weight/ fluorishing due to the sudden appearance of sun around here. And its just right for hiking with low humididity. Peace, love and happiness Mike For some reason The City won't let me upload a full pic of the purple one. I tried resizing it, just like I did the others, but it still says that the file is too big. I'll try again later.
Happy B-day kamerad. So i take it your name is mike, thats funny, yet another mike, im one myself, in germany im Michael though, theres no mikes really there, haha. i got, rr, borrowed a digi-camera from my girl, and i gotta figure it out first, shed kill me if i left a picture on it, cuz its her moms too, haha.
